DVDs burned with MEP Pro 2015 Plus won't play on my Panasonic DMP-BDT210; WHY NOT??

k9vet wrote on 9/29/2015, 12:30 PM

I use both MEP Pro16 and MEP Pro 2015 Plus.  I have a Panasonic Bluray player DMP-BDT210.  Any DVD I burn with MEP16 plays fine on this player but nothing burned using MEP 2015 plus will play on it..  Very frustrating.  (DVDs burned with either MEP16 or MEP 2015 Plus DO play fine on my computers.)

I just updated MEP 2015 Plus to version 14.0.0.183, which did not help.  If I produce a movie with MEP16 and then load and try to burn that movie using MEP 2015 Plus I get the following message:

"The opened project contains presets that are not compatible with the current DVD encoder. It's likely that the project was saved with another program version.  The settings will be reset to the default values."   So is that the problem: the 2 versions of your software encode DVDs differently?

Does resetting to the default values affect or undo the editing I do using MEP 2015 Plus?

Is there anything I can do?

I like certain features of MEP 2015 Plus for editing, but then the only way I can burn DVDs that play on this particular player is to burn the movie using MEP16.  I can continue to do things that way, but I hope maybe you can tell me if there is a fix so that I could get playable burns using MEP 2015 Plus!  I don't see why this Panasonic player acts this way.  Any ideas?   I use Windows 7 home premium OS.

Hi

. . . . Any DVD I burn with MEP16 plays fine on this player but nothing burned using MEP 2015 plus will play on it . . . .

. . . . "The opened project contains presets that are not compatible with the current DVD encoder. It's likely that the project was saved with another program version.  The settings will be reset to the default values."   So is that the problem: the 2 versions of your software encode DVDs differently? . . . .

I assume this is an Intel i5 or i7 processor based PC and you do not have a NVidia or AMD graphics card installed ?   It would help if you give your full computer specification when posting a question.

If so then the message is appearing because MEP 16 was using the MainConcept codec for encoding the video and MEP 2015, by default is using the Intel codec.

The resetting to the default values should not be an issue.

However if you have Hardware acceleration turned on in the program's settings and the setting shown below checked, then this will cause issues - try burning with the setting below unchecked.

Otherwise please give your full computer specification - you may have a conflict with the integrated graphics chipset and any other graphics card installed or the graphics card is not compatible.

Thanks, John, for your quick answer.  (BTW, I visited your beautiful city, Berlin in August.)

Here is more info about my computer:  Intel HD Graphics 4400

Intel Core (TM) i3-4130CPU @3.40 GHz

                                                                      4 Gb RAM

I have no other graphics card installed.  I will try checking the settings you suggested.  Could my problem be caused by the fact that my Panasonic player is not compatible with DVDs burned with the Intel codec that MEP 205 uses?

Would it be possible to somehow use the MainConcept codec with MEP 2015?  Can codecs be changed?

Let me know what you think about my problem now that I told you about my processor and graphics info.

Thank you so much!

I can't find the MPEG-4 export window shown in your email.  Where is it?

John, I need more help!  I don't know when a burn uses MPEG2 and when it uses MPEG4.  I do have the MPEG4 codec installed, but when is it used?  I generally choose the disc selection "DVD" rather than Bluray or AVCHD when I burn, but then the "advanced" tab only reveals MPEG2 info.  MPEG4 can't be used here?  When is MPEG4 used in a burn?  Doesn't it give better quality?

Please clarify!

Hi

. . . . I do have the MPEG4 codec installed, but when is it used? . . . .

You have to set the codec in the programs settings - press the Y key to open the programs settings and select the System tab - there you will see there is the option to set the Intel codec (Default) or MainConcept codec for mpeg 2 and mpeg 4 as shown below

When you click the dropdown you should get the following options

. . . . Doesn't it give better quality? . . . .

Yes and generally smaller file sizes as well.
