DVD buring in 2015

I'm having great problems !!

I have created 3 DVD movies using MEP 2015 with no problems.

But getting them onto a disc that will work is proving a real headache.  Originally I decided that i must have  a bad tube of discs as around 1 in 3 would play (in a DVD player and in laptop).

Then I found that DVD+R where more reliable but still binning half as "disc corrupt or missing"

This week I have been using my wife's Laptop in case the recorder in mine was playing up.  The first 3 recorded and played with no issue.................... then nothing, now I can't even get discs to be recognised to record on !

Since I put MEP on my wifes laptop it won't play other DVD either............... very strange.

Both are Win10 Toshiba machines. Both with the same copy (mine unactivated atm) of MEP 2015  with updates installed as and when requested.

Anyone have any idea what might be going on ?

ongoing from above I have found now that DVDs I burned last year (and gave to people) have "stopped working"

Really confused by this ! They worked fine to start (in  a range of devices and these are in seperate households) but a few months later some (around 80% of the total) have started not being recognised or stopping or loosing sound quality................ but sometimes they will play OK !!

Hi

. . . . ongoing from above I have found now that DVDs I burned last year (and gave to people) have "stopped working" . . . .

Either one of four things are likely to be the problem:

  1. Bun routines need updating  If you have not updated the Burn routines to the latest version they are available here.

  2. Bad disks - what make / brand are you using?

  3. Windows 10 is the issue - it will not play back DVD's natively - you need a 3rd party player eg  VLC

  4. Burner(s) faulty -  if both computers are showing the same problem then this is unlikely

. . . . DVD+R where more reliable . . . .

Here I beg to differ - I use Ritek DVD-R full face printable discs and have not had (so far in 8 yrs of using them) any failures with them and they play in every player I have including an old, ie about 13 yrs old, Panasonic DVD recorder.

Tip:   I always do the first burns to Verbatim DVD-RW (or BD-RE) discs for testing  - I often find that I have to make a correction that I missed on the small screen but was glaringly obvious when viewed on a HD TV -  and then, when everything is tested OK, copy the DVD-RW to DVD-R (BD-RE to BD-R).

1.  not sure tbh but I willnow

2.Verbatim and/or Maxell

3. 99% of peeps using TV systems

Do youo copy the final disc with image burner or with MEP ?

Hi

. . . . Verbatim and/or Maxell . . . .

Maxell discs have been known to be of variable quality.

. . . . 99% of peeps using TV systems . . . .

This would suggest disc incompatability with the player(s).

. . . . . Do youo copy the final disc with image burner or with MEP ? . . . .

Neither - I use Nero, I have the complete Nero Platinum Suite mainly because it is capable of burning multiple discs at once which is very useful and it has BD player software.

However MEP can copy the discs using the SpeedBrnr software that comes with it.
