Drag and drop not working?

cliffetzel wrote on 11/8/2017, 12:08 PM

I still use the SONY branded Sound Forge 10 Pro and wanted to know if Drag and Drop was ever a feature in the software - SInce moving to Windows 10 every time I launch it, it asks for permission to run even though I've set it to run as administrator. I also cannot just drag and drop several audio files into the software. What am I missing? I"m trying to ween myself off of Adobe Audition but so far Sound Forge isn't cooperating the way I need/want it to.

Any suggestions?

"I still use the SONY branded Sound Forge 10 Pro"

- There is no official "Magix" branded version of "SF Pro 10, however, registration (or re-registration) now goes through Magix. The latter builds of SF Pro 11 OTOH, bares the Magix name and is in the Magix x86 Program Files folder.

That said, drag and drop works fine in SF Pro 10 (w/ Win 10), however after a recent Win 10 update, the same 'Administrative Privileges" issue happened to me... which seems to be common.

This register tweak should fix it. Always take the usual precautions when editing the registry. From: https://www.magix.info/us/forum/sound-forge-requires-elevated-privileges-fixed-in-the-magix-version--1177664/

"In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following directory:

HKEY_USERS > [user SID]_Classes > VirtualStore > MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Sony Creative Software > Sound Forge [Pro or Audio Studio] > [Version Number]

NOTE: The [user SID] listed above is a variable that will be different for each account on a computer. It will most often begin with S-1-5-21-.

Right click on the version number folder ONLY and select Delete. If prompted, confirm you wish to delete the folder."

PS- Thanks Nick

Didn't resolve my issues trying the various fixes... Not sure what else to try other than give up using any MAGIX software... my Adobe apps work flawlessly (PPro, Audition & Photoshop - all CS6).

**Update: I also installed on my laptop running Windows 10 Pro Creators Update and I can drag and drop no problem so this is specific to my desktop - seems I may need to reinstall from scratch in order to get this working correctly as I think there are some serious permission issues that are hidden and I have no idea how to resolve them.
