Is it possible to purchase/install a 'proDad Plug In' package compatible with MEP2016? Or does proDad Mercalli plug ins work ONLY with Video Pro X?

I can't remember when OFX plugins became compatible with MEP or VPX but it was able to be done within VPX at that time as it is mentioned in the VPX timeline blurb. The more cores and motherboard ram you have the better OFX plugins work.

Are you still having problems? What period are you trying to emulate?

I did this originally with MEP 2020 or 2019, I can't remember which, but it never got used because of Covid. I updated it recently with MEP 2022 for use this year. (All I did was change the date of the upcoming event) All the effects used were those already in the base program and as far as I remember those effects were there in the 2018 version I started with when I first joined because I did something similar with it for one of the other events I covered. Only the soundtrack is not from the program.

Effects / General options / Old movie

Templates / Film looks / 16mm

Removed some layers from

Templates / Intro outro Animations / Old Movie (outro)

To get to the vignette and scratches for variation.

De-saturated colours over time with the key frame editor.

Slightly enlarged frames to be able to move the image around at random using size position.

Used an ink spot transition for a jpg overlay.

Only if possible, (as mentioned), I'd like to find a 'Plug In' - I prefer working with Plug Ins for reasons mentioned. There's more flexibility, more power, less restriction compared to Over Lays. Was only asking because Mercalli advertisement keeps popping up ... Looks like a nice package of Plug In's

However as you mentioned, its not compatible with MEP 2016 ...

Mike, I think you need a filter from Newblue. They have filter packs containing all sorts of effects.

The Prodad stuff looks like it is only for motion adjustments.

Hi Mike.

I didn't use any plugins for the aging process beyond the basic ones within MEP. Color correction, saturation, movement, etc. It was all overlays, manually adjusted with help from the key frame editor.

The three or four plugins I have to use for aging are all very limited and need additional help to look good.

If you are talking about ProDad Vitascene I strongly advise trying a demo version before buying it. I have it but have never used it. It never gives me quite what I'm looking for personally and I have no idea how resource hungry it is. It runs OK on my system but again check for requirements.

Thanks john. That explains why I've never had that problem.

That means the majority of NewBlue effects and some ProDad effects will be off the table for Mike then.

There are no longer any effects available from HitFilm since it was taken over by Artist.

This site has a large list of OFX plugins and some software companies that Mike should be aware of at least or will know he can't use some of their plugins.

Some sites will have to be searched manually.

The only overlays I haven't found yet that could be useful would be frame edge overlays and frame jumps where you get a moving bar between frames showing where there could be sprocket damage. That would be fun and could be made up as an overlay video from some base effects using the crop frame along with size and position, even a bit of swing from rotation using one of the layer masks as the background.
