Does movie studio support av1 format

I was wondering if movie studio supports av1 file format. When I was trying to import it a window showed up that asked to install QuickTime. I installed it and now I get the error "MXMPEG2 Error 0110: no media decoder found" I assume it does not support it but figured I would ask after googling did not return any answers. Thanks in advance.

Movie Studio (MMS) 2023, nor Video Pro X (the pro 'big brother' software), do not support AV1 video for import or exporting.

You would have to use a video converter such as handbrake or Avidemux to convert the video to a compatible format for MMS.

@Brandon-Mayer Hi, I've never heard of AV1, so just out of curiousity do you have a short clip you could share on Google Drive.. Or how could a create an AV1 for myself?

So far, AV1 has mainly been used by streamers. It is currently best supported by Intel ARC Graphics Cards. Otherwise, I only know that the Nvidia RTX 4090 and 4080 have a hardware encoder and decoder for this.

Graphics cards of the 3000 series only have a decoder.

Software encoding is damn slow.

Intel Graphic Cards can use Intel Deeplink / Hyper Encode for this
