Does Magix have an email address? I have a legal question for them...

Blue_Thunder wrote on 10/27/2016, 6:56 PM

Hi all! So I've had Music Maker Jam for awhile now, and I've already bought several styles. I'm a budding Computer Science student, and I plan on eventually creating my own game(s). Basically, I want to contact Magix and request permission to use songs that I create in MMJ as background music in the games. The games are to be freeware, and I will put credit (something like a logo screen before the main menu) in the games.

Thanks!

Hi

This is a regular question - did you had look through the Music topics section ?.

The soundpools which come with Music Maker Jam and Music Maker are for private use only. you need the correct licences from Catooh.com for all the soundpools you use for anything other than private use a comparison chart of what is permitted for the different licnces is linked to above

Magix's web site , producerplanet dot com , has more information . to help find more info while at producer planet , click on one of the audio Instruments to get to it's product description page . there you will find a link to see the chart of the Licensing , and further links to read even more about it .

if you use Magix's Sound Loops , Sounds , Sound Pools , and you want to go Commercial , then you Must pay Magix for the right to go commercial .

if you use Magax's Visualizations , video samples , images in your work , then you Must pay Magix for the right to go commercial .

if you use Magix's Premium music synthesizers exclusively , to write your own songs and build them in Music Maker , then you are Commercial Unlimited , nothing else to do . this also involves the need to Write your own melodies , jingles ,..etc … No sound pools can be used . You can use the Premium music synthesizers to make our own loops and Still Commercial Unlimited . Same is true with native-instruments Komplete , and Vienna Symphonic Library ,...commercial unlimited there too , when using their instruments .

Thanks for your response. Im just wondering if i buy the sample packs on catooh it has a license type so if i buy them again there then I have the corresponding license described? eg here where it says license type? http://www.catooh.com/uk/sys/id/Katalog/area/mediaDetails/item_id/483104/

catooh sells many Sound samples , Sounds , Sound pools , Sound Loops , all of which require an Exrtra pay for License from Magix , for use in your commercial enterprise .

if you purchase Magix Premium music Synthesizers ,...Choir , Grand Piano , Upright Bass , etc ,...these Synthesizers all come with Commercial ( Unlimited ) license , you have Full rights to distribute your recordings when you use Only the music Synthesizers . you need to Write your own notes , play your own notes ,using only the music Synthesizers . or you could use an external keyboard or a real physical instrument to support your song . and you still have Full rights to distribute your songs , jingles ,..etc ,...

if you use just 1 Sound Loop fragment ( that was gotten from Magix ) , in your song , then you do NOT have full rights to commercially distribute that song .

Commercial( Standard ) license says: you do NOT have exclusive rights to distribute your song , using that item . you must pay Magix for an enhanced license . key word here is "Standard"

if you see , at the Check Out and Product details description page , and the license is shown as : Commercial( Standard ) , and you want to use it in your commercial enterprise , then do NOT purchase that item . "STANDARD" is the key word .

Premium music Synthesizers Commercial ( Unlimited ) license says : you Do have Full Exclusive rights to distribute your song . "UNLIMITED" is the key word .

if you look at native-instruments Komplete , and Vienna Symphonic Library , both of these companies have Commercial ( Unlimited ) License . you can distribute your original works , using their music Synthesizers . read their Term of Use , and License agreements .

if you buy a real physical piano instrument , and record an original song , the piano company has No rights to your song . and you have Full exclusive distribution rights to your work . assuming a recording company did not contract you to write a song .

again , look at the Magix License wording : "commercial ( Standard )" , verses "commercial ( Un-limited )" only the Premium Music Synthesizers come with ( Un-limited ) license .

Magix could , reword the licenses as : "license ( Standard )" verses "license ( Un-limited )" .

Hi all,

This link here may also be of interest to Music Maker Jam users:

http://musicmakerjam.tumblr.com/post/158776941725/how-to-monetize-your-music

As you can see, Just Add Music have made an additional concession to Music Maker Jam users that allows them to monetise their music without a commercial add-on license, as long as you stay beneath a certain limit for the money you make with your work.

@Blue_Thunder

If you have any further questions about licensing and specific instances, please feel free to contact us at infoservice@magix.net

the above email address comes directly from producerplanet dot com , that's what you wanted .

I used the free version of Independence for a few years. Then I upgraded to Independence Pro Standard for about 99 bucks and got what seemed to be exactly the same as the free version with no bigger library. So I upgraded that to Pro Plus, got a bigger library, another copy of the free version of Independence, and no serial number to license it with the bigger library. So I'm about 140.00 US into it now, opened half a dozen tickets on it with Magix tech and other support, none of who seem to actually read the ticket and keep telling me either they need the serial to register it (which I said I don't have) or they tell me the serial is on the box etc (which I don't have because it's a download from Producer Planet) or allude to some email I supposedly got containing the serial, which did not come after either Standard or Pro.

Has anyone actually purchased Independence Pro/Plus/Whatever Ultimate, and received an email with the serial in it?

My Producer Planet page shows all my purchases but unlike the Magix page, "My Products" are not listed with accompanying serial numbers.

Is there really no contact number or email for Producer Planet? I haven't seen either.

@Royce-Lerwick

I'm sorry you are experiencing these problems with your installation of Independence Pro but did you notice you had posted to a thread which was created more than three years ago, and is really asking a different question about a different product. Please do not resurrect old threads nor hijack a topic.

I assume you have tried to find an answer by using the Contact button in the footer of every forum page? If not, that is the obvious place to start. Try the Sales Support option.

If you still have no joy in contacting Magix please start a new thread because this one is now closed.
