Does MAGIX have a place where they list the differences between versions of their software?   It is hard to decide about upgrading or repurchasing without good information. (Using different names in different parts of the world doesn't help either.)  A lot of companies use a checklist to make it easy to see what each version of software provides as features or the enhancements between versions. I own Audio Cleaning Lab 11 and am trying to see what if any improvements have been made since that version.  In downloading a couple of trial versions, much of the improvements seem to ONLY be DISPLAY SCREENS. Content improvements are more important than rearranging the screen or just making it run on the latest OS. (The new OS capability doesn't seem like a new version but rather an update within a version.)

Has anyone seen a listing of what you get with the different versions of ACLab?

Thanks for the reference but I had already seen this and it was basically the same I had seen advertized for ACL14, 17 and MX. I was looking for details to their "details" like HOW Sound Cloner 2 differs from Sound Cloner (been around since at least ACL11). Previewing of effects has been there all along (just click and listen then click back if not satisfied). IMPROVED effects? They look like the same as previous versions except the layout. IMPROVED speed-how much? 1%, 2%? It isn't that noticeable.

So I'm still looking for the definition of IMPROVED, NEW, etc. In CPUs there are benchmarks. Where's the equivalent for this?

Hi

If you are thinking of upgrading, why not download the trial version and see if it is better than what you have?

It should install into a different directory and not affect what you already have installed, also if you like it and buy it, then you only need the serial no to bring it up to the full version.

I never rely on software specs alone if possible - I prefer to take a test drive first.

You have asked an excelleant question....without dong a great deal of research, I have had MM since version 11.

In many ways, each MM is a separate program and not an "upgrade" as such. Certain VST items will be in one version but not another, for example, and Magix says yu might be able to Xfer from one programto another, but they will not guarantee it or support it. Buying a newer version you might get more VVST insturments or sofferemt synths, or maybe even the ability to use !,000 Tracks....its all about marketing and Magix recycling the program to make money. The only upgrade is from standrd to premium of that particular program. You even have ao be caareful abuot buying add on soundpools because in athe next version of MM, they might give it to yu for one of their "Bonus" features. I like Magix beacause for a few bucks you do get a prettty powerful program even in the Basic mode. I bought MM2013 basic to load into a laptop...$19.00 at Frys...box label said $59.00. Over the years I have aquired 74 soundpools and luckily they are all xterable to my current programs...which I have MM2013 Premiun and I bought Samplitude Producer 11.5 abd run the same soundpools between the two of them, but BASICALLY they are almost identical in perormaance just have different screens.

From all that has been said and not said, the answer to the question seems to be "You're on your own."  Magix has the free trial option which is its saving grace because that's the ONLY WAY one finds out the difference between any of their programs.  From tutorials to respondents to this question, there is no "yes" answer given.  Too bad.  Having looked at ACL11, 14, MX and 2013 I find little difference except screen layout.  I guess if Magix had something to brag about, they would be shouting it as loud as they could.  Obviously they don't.

I tried to be nce and give yu a little insight as to how Magix makes and markts its products.  I guess my question would be what do you want ACL to do that it doesn't do already ?  other that do it faster.  Is there any such list anywhere in the world that does any kind of Xreference to any of its products that it has ever made for comparison type purposes ?....in a word.....NO !  happy now ?!!!!
