Hi

Is there a reason for setting up a CName?

Does your domain name provider allow for CNames ?

If you want multiple domain names to point to the same site or have a domain name that pointed to an old site hosted elsewhere then you need to change the the destination using your domain name providers control panel.

The 301 redirect needs setting up on the old site if you still have access to it - see this article
