Disappearing midi files

Iang wrote on 7/5/2020, 9:40 AM

I have a file I've been working on for several weeks. I'm getting near completion and thought I would just listen to it one more time today... 3 midi files are just blank and I've spent a lot of time on them. I have them saved in a previous version and they' still there but what a pain having to replace and then do all the timing and build up again. I've tried several DAWs over the last couple of years... do any actually work efficiently? Thought Music Maker was going well but this happened previously a couple of months ago with another project.

There is a severe bug in MM where MIDI- Clips disappear after they were modified by cutting and splitting and the project is saved and reopened.

I don't know if this was fixed in the newest edition.

DAWs are very complex pieces of software. Every user has a different workflow and does things in a different order and uses different hardware. Therefore it is nearly impossible for software developers to prevent many bugs. Even when there are dozens of programmers and testers it would not be enough but no music software company has the cash flow to pay this much people. Big money will invest in business software and databases not music software.

Thanks SP. The "cutting and splitting"... yes, I did a bit of that. I'll try the new upgrade and maybe keep things a bit simpler. Thanks once again!
