Unable to record using "What U Hear" from sound blaster x5 external sound device. I was using it fine the other day and now I get this error:

Device is not available. One or more Audio playback devices does not support the current sample rate/or bit-depth.

I haven't done anything different since I used it last.

@Xeoneex Has maybe a Windows update disabled the permission to record audio?

It might also work again, if you simply restart your computer. Please select the Restart option and not the Shut down option.

Hi @Xeoneex, assuming you have already 'restarted' the PC, confirm the Sound Forge new file properties (Sample rate/Bit depth) are the same as the SB interface. Try another driver as well if possible.

The first thing I did was restart, didn't do anything. The format for my rate/bit depth is 24bit, 48k hz. I tried a new file at that and it didn't do anything still. Not sure what you mean by try another driver.

I'm on windows 11 I don't see a place to set the recording permission. I have the general option turned on though.

It works now, not sure what happened. I have Microphone access enabled.

I should say the microphone thing worked, still can't record with What U Hear though so not sure what to do next.

@Xeoneex Does What U Hear work in another application? For example in Audacity? If yes, it's a problem with Sound Forge, if no, it's a problem with the recording settings in Windows.

I get an: Error -9999 Unanticipated Host Error in audacity.

@Xeoneex Can you please the bit depth and sample rate settings of your What U Hear device?

Right click on the speaker icon in the bottom right side of the Windows taskbar. Then click on Sounds. Go to the recording tab and make a right click on What U Hear. Open its properties to check the bit depth and sample rate.
