The 'time display' read-out can be changed to 'Measures & Beats' Choose 'Time Display' in the 'View' menu, Right-click the display and choose 'Measures & Beats' I do not think that will state the BPM of an actual song though. There are websites where you can to tap in a tempo to determine BPM.
Most of my workflow is focused on SMPTE TC (hr-min-sec-frames) or elapsed time (hr-min-sec-ms) .
