Demo songs and collections

JayGee716 wrote on 10/21/2017, 7:55 PM

Just took the plunge and upgraded from MMM 2013 Premium to "2018". Most of the impetus behind my plunge was all the freebies that come with it, which brings me to my first question.

With the upgrade I got 8 free instruments, 3 free soundpools, and 1 free "collection". The instruments and soundpools were no problem. But what exactly constitutes a "collection"? I've searched high and low both within the app and on the Magix site but have come up empty. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

Now, for my second question. As an aside, I got all my soundpools, etc. in the correct Magix directory. (because I've collected so many of them over the years, that was a major undertaking). I also have dozens upon dozens of demo songs but cannot reach them via Music Maker.

Which directory houses all the demo songs? It doesn't seem to be in the Documents\Magix.... Directory. And once I locate it, can I just copy the files directly into it as I did the soundpools?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

1. The first 5 soundpools in the Store are Collections.

2. The Demos are in the same place in each version

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Music Maker Premium\2017\_Demos

If you don't see the ProgramData folder in Windows Explorer, it is because it is hidden and you have to unhide it.

Yes, you can copy the folders elsewhere and access the MMM files from there.

Browj has right .

The demos are in the folders C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Music Maker Premium\2017\_Demos

But if you move from there , in the "welcome dialog box" , they won t be in the scrolling list. ybder "Load demo song"

If you wish to keep them in the scolling list , keep them in this folder .

To add , if you have got some demos from older version of Magix Music Maker or from soundpool , you can move ( or copy ) them in this folder to have them too in the scrolling list .

For instance in your case , move or copy files from C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Music Maker 2013 Premium\_Demos to

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Music Maker Premium\2017\_Demos

There is a second scrolling list in the "welcome dialog box" : it s the same folder you have chosen in the menu File / settings / program settings / tab Folders / editbox Project

Good point. Normally, I would have said to copy the demos from all programs to the normal user folder under a folder called Projects\Demos and access them like any other project, but since there should be no more new versions, your method should work well. I'm just wondering if Magix won't delete or reset the folder under ProgramData with some update. Maybe one should save all of the demos in two places. If MMM has to be reinstalled, the folder under ProgramData will be replaced with only the Demos for the latest version, and any others would be lost, requiring more work hunting them down.

@browj2 @daeell29-ukysse

The demo path is wrong. It is now under:
C:\ProgramData\Magix\Music Maker\25\_Demos

not

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Music Maker Premium\2017\_Demos

This was for Music Maker 2017 Premium.

I'm on my laptop right now, haven't updated it to 2018 yet. All of the demos are in approximately the same place in each version, under ProgramData, so one just has to find all of them.

Holy Moley! Thanks for the ton of responses!

I'm pretty sure I've got a handle on the demo songs location now but still no-joy on the collections.

Under "Store", at the bottom of whichever category (instruments, soundpools, collections), there was a yellow graphic showing however many remaining credits I had.

Now I have only one credit remaining and it's over "Collections". I've been unable to use it for any of the soundpools available under that category or any other. I'd I select a soundpool and click "Purchase" it takes me to the transaction screen which shows the price instead on $0.00 as it did with all the others.

Then I saw something about collections on Catooh late last night so I'm wondering if that's the key to the puzzle.

I'm going to try to nose around there to see what I can find.

Thanks again for the help!

Wow, thanks guys! I'm right in the middle of trying to figure all this out on my own machine and get all the content properly located to be visible and functional in MM25 (2018?) and eventually uninstall all the previous programs. Does anyone know if you can also submit multiple Music Studio and Samplitude Music Studio serials within the new Edition Acitvation mode? ... since its technically Music Maker and not Music Studio core?

Cheers and may the Music Season be 24/7/365 !
