Dedicated Samplitude Forum?

Will-Kenworthy wrote on 11/29/2018, 2:56 PM

Hi,

New to Samplitude, but I have been and am a Vegas Pro 16, Sound Forge Pro 11, Acid Pro 8 user for long time.

First question: What is the deal with the dedicated Samplitude forum? I've tried several links posted here they either go nowhere or just open a blank page. I'm aware that the Pro Audio support section is being merged with the regular Magix support section, is this part of that? Will it return?

Second question: Admittedly I'm new to Samplitude and haven't got too far into it but since I bought the full suite I was looking for the Independence library. Since it didn't download and install with the program itself it must be a separate download, at least that's what I'm assuming. While looking at other posts about this, the original posters where sent to this "dedicated Samplitude Forum" for answers which seems to be inaccessible, at least for now. So how does one get the Independence 70GB library to go along with my Samplitude Pro X3 Suite?

Thank you,

Will

Glad it's not just my links that can't get to the dedicated forum!

@Will-Kenworthy Just this vid out for your independence question:

Kraznet is pretty much the only one out there I've found doing vids to help with Samplitude!

Hey CosmicOutpost,

Thank you for replying so quickly! I was just coming back to my post to edit it as I found an .exe file in my VST/Magix folder that has started the download for the Independence library (70GB). I'm sure this is not the method intended by Magix but it's working.

Thank you for providing the correct method for accessing these files. I hadn't got anywhere near that far. I'm still reading the manual for the first time. Got a long way to go. Since most other programs download all components during the install process I guess I just assumed that Samplitude would work the same way. It's actually a better way, I'm finding out, since it gives you time and options. So I'm not complaining at all. Very pleasantly surprised, actually!

Thanks again for your help. I'm still wondering about thew forum, but logically it seems we are in the midst of "changes" and that is probably what is happening, although I could be wrong ....

One thing I've learned repeatedly is that things here are a bit different (usually in a good way). LOL!!

I hope they didn't kill off the original Samplitude Forum , since there is a wealth of info there...plus, it seems the forum name I had there for over 15 years, I can't use here, someone else has it...???...so now I'm using the name above to signify I am from the original Samplitude Forum (until I can think of something better :) )

This is a stupid consolidation so far, if this is how it will be.
Some old applications are not part of the consolidation, so you lose your licenses if you ever need to reinstall, as you won't be able to authorize them...and now this with the forum, where you can't keep the same forum name you had for many years.

Also...if they did take down the original forum...it sure would have been nice to get some kind of "heads-up".

@Will-Kenworthy

Hi,

In Samplitude, did you click on Help, and then Download Instruments and Sounds? If not, then you are missing most of the stuff to which you are entitled. Since you already got Independence, you don't need to get it again, just the other stuff.

Yes...I saw that late last night.
Things have been uncertain since they started consolidating stuff...it seemed like the forums were also part of that. I hope not...or at least that they don't lose them if they do.

@browj2

Thank you, yes I got all that. Thank you for making sure. Just finished downloading the samples for Independence. Took a day and a half! I live in a rural area, no high speed bandwidth here .... Still, I'm happy to have it. That and all the Vita instruments and loops, samples, etc. Lot's of good stuff ....

Now I have to learn how to use it all. LOL. Samplitude is a little different than the other DAW's I'm familiar with. Actually so far seems a bit better thought out as well ....
