Hi @Duncan-Baiden Happy new year and welcome to the Sound Forge forum.

Which version of SF? Sorry, I am not familiar with AS (Audio Studio) settings and such. Nut even with SSF Pro I'm not sure off-hand. I recall this happening to me once a while ago but I do not recall the setting. You could experiment with "Options> Seek Cursor on Playback" and "Scroll Playback".

Otherwise you could try changing Sound Forge's overall display interface type from dark to light or vice-versa. "Options> Preferences> Display" .. 'Interface type' at top.

Maybe try uninstall and reinstall..

Try a different audio interface if you have one. I'm having similar issues with the Yamaha-Steinberg USB ASIO driver. If I choose larger buffer sizes, the cursor disappears and sometimes SF will not play at all.

I installed SF12 Pro today and installed it with all defaults. Opened an mp3 and discovered the cursor disappeared during playback, plus setting the play/pause F12 choice had no effect to keep keep the cursor located where the pause occurred. (Reverted back to the original beginning of playback)

Since I have multiple computers, I checked all the options on a SF11 Pro on another computer with all the option choices of my new SF12. Everything looked perfect. I then closed the SF12. Opened the SF12 and everything worked as expected. What a program!?!#$? So, my thinking is that the software does not immediately update a new option in real time, rather it seems to register only at the startup of the application. Since it seems to be similar to this thread, I've added my observations; hope it helps someone.

Some settings changes require an application restart to be enabled, but there is usually pop-up notice stating so when initiated. I don't know about the pause/stop Space bar/ F12 option.
