Creating Custom Video Editing Templates

I have been trying to create custom Video editing templates but i can't seem to get it working. My intention is to create the template to reuse with my own music and timing and transitions all already cued in.
I also want it to apear in the menu and behave just like all the other templates eg. Blockbuster template.

I saw fastcut advertise that ability but that software is very old. How can i achieve this?

Hi,

I have been intending to do something similar. If you want to make something that will open into the Movie Template type interface, then it could be quite complicated and I've never tried it. The Magix templates are .mis files which are installer files. When you select one from the menu, it will unpack this under your Projects folder with the movie name as a subfolder. There is a .ini file that, as far as I can tell, controls how the project opens in the program and contains info about all placeholders and parameters about their use. There is an mvp (project) file that has all of the placeholders, etc., as you see in the interface or as you see if you click on the checkmark at the upper right to transfer the template to the timeline (irreversibly). The subfolder has all required template files including the audio/sound effects files (OGG or Wav) jpg, m2v, mp4, png, and mvp files. Opening one of the mvp files works with the ini file, as far as I can tell, to place everything. Take a look at one of the .ini files.

Alternatively, you can just make up your project similar to what a template looks like once on the timeline, using your audio and placeholder images that you can copy from any of the above folders. Save the project and open it when you want to use it, immediately rename and save the project so that you don't overwrite your template. Replace images with the actual images, using Swap (shortcut 4) under the Import button dropdown (right-click). You will have to trim up any videos to get the same duration prior to using Swap. Any effects on the image/video to be swapped out will be lost, so copy them to the clipboard first and then paste once the swap has been done. Transitions will be maintained.

I am assuming that you have a good understanding of how to edit in Magix Movie Studio Platinum/Suite.
