I reviewed the first basic tutorial for PhotoStory Deluxe and tried to create a basic slide show. When I opened my PhotoStory Deluxe app (Version 20.0.1.62 UDP3) I do not see "New Photostory - new slide show." The tutorial showed going to the Photo Story Wizard and Wizard Mode. I do not see anything like "Wizard or Wizard Mode. How do I find this Wizard Mode to create a simple slide show?

I am trying to build a slideshow of 1099 photo's of my grandson from his birth to his 5th birthday. I then want to transfer the slideshow to a DVD. I followed the instructions to open Wizards>Slideshow maker and began the process. I now have a few questions:
1. What is Media Length - Adapt slideshow length to music?
2. Automatically limit number of media?
3. Select Template - what is the best template for my grandson's photo's from birth to 5 years old, i.e., 1099 photo's?

A DVD has a maximum capacity of ~ 2hrs runtime - this leaves you with ~ 6 secs per image display time.

The display times for the images will be adjusted to fit to the length of the music the default is 7 seconds if the 1099 images are in one slideshow you need a long piece of music.
2. Automatically limit number of media?
The number of images used will be limited to the music length to provide a reasonable viewing time per image
3. Select Template - what is the best template for my grandson's photo's from birth to 5 years old, i.e., 1099 photo's?
There is no 'best template' what I would pick may not be to your taste - the choice is yours - you an play the template to see what you are going to get - see image below
4. What is the best Music to select?
As for 1 and 3.
For 1099 photos I would consider breaking up the slideshow in to several slideshows - this can be done in Photostory and the DVD generation will take care of the menus for you.
See this tutorial for how to do this - although it is for Movie Edit Pro, the principles and method are the same for Photostory - you will need to work in Timeline mode when importing the individual slideshows to make the composite slideshow to ctreate the disc.

That looks like a new interface for SlideShow Maker. Does it have new features or is it just a new interface of the same thing as before?
Are you looking to automate the whole thing, just showing photos in any order, or to tell a story?
I have found that 3 seconds viewing time per photo is about optimal unless there is something very interesting to see or describe with narration. 1099 photos at 3 seconds will give you a 55 minute video that will be quite boring unless you have a story with narration, titles (description of what, where, when and who) along the way. Imagine putting 1099 photos in a photo album in random order and handing it to someone to look at your grandson. How fast can the person turn the pages after a quick glance at the 8 photos?
You will need to sort the photos in StoryBoard mode (the easiest) or on the timeline. Then apply SlideShow Maker. Then go to the timeline and edit.
For music, you can select several songs in SlideShow Maker and look at the total duration to see if you have enough. Add more songs. You can always modify these on the timeline.
I suggest that you limit the use of transitions unless they are very short, like 0.5 seconds. Limit effects like zooming in on photos. Automatic zooming is almost always going to zoom into or out from some random area in the photo that is not what you intended.

That would be 3 seconds plus transitions, if any. For a 1 second transition on each side, I use 5 seconds, 2 seconds go to the transitions. Maybe it's because I get bored after having viewed the photos umpteen times whilst editing and after exporting.

That's one of the reasons it has took me 18 months to complete the 2018 holiday videos - 35 projects from 3900+ video clips and 3700+ images - the eyes go 👀 and you get that 🙈 feeling.

Is there also a way to manually press for the next picture? The reason is i want to tell stories to the images, but don't know the exact text yet. So it would be ideal to just press for the next picture. Similar to power point..

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.
Photostory is designed to allow a user to create a slideshow which “plays” automatically so there is no need for any input from the person viewing the show, other than pressing the Play or Start button!
It is not intended for the showing of something like an old-fashioned slideshow, where the “Presenter” might talk about each image as it is shown, before manually changing to the next image.
You can create such a show in Photostory but it would entail you in creating a separate audio recording for each image you wish to use and then inserting each of these to the timeline at the same point as its associated image. As I say, it can be done, but not easily or without much time and effort. You would then Export your project to DVD or, perhaps, mp4 video file.

Hi,
Further to what Jeff mentioned, PhotoStory produces video files, so what is called a slideshow actually becomes a video file of still images. You can add music, narration, effects and much more into the project in PhotoStory, but it all becomes a video file at the end.
Are you looking to create a permanent record of the slideshow with your narration or do you just want a slideshow presentation where you speak each time? If the latter, then you are better off using MS PowerPoint. If the former, then, as Jeff indicated, you would record the audio and adjust the duration of each photo (or video) to correspond to your text.
Here is an example of a project that has many photos with narration and other stuff. I did it in Magix Video Pro X, but I could have done it in PhotoStory, except for the airplane and car trip which were done using Vasco da Gama and then imported into the project.
