Crash Fest!!

Zool wrote on 7/26/2020, 8:55 AM

I took the plunge and bought the premium 2021 version of this product because I liked the ideas of the soundpools and had used ACID as a product many, many moons ago.

I wanted to use as a quick sketch tool that didn't need much setting up and allowed me to get straight into being creative.

I have had this product 2 days and have spent more time restarting after multiple crashes...I am talking lots, some are related to the preview of soundpools, some are just random....than i have making music.

I have had the crackling issues on playback of my audio interface (ASIO) (which I wager are not buffer related - as there is not a single bit of difference if i quadruple the values) I can open the same track and the problem isn't there, then another time....crackle fest - same settings.

I run a modern i9 processor @5GHz - high amount of ram on a m.2 SSD - so i am going to punt my PC can handle it (managed far far larger scores in other DAWs without issue.

So, rant over - when's it getting fixed guys? I haven't had a pc programme crash as much as this in Windows 10, ever.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Did you see this bug list ?

. . . . I have had the crackling issues on playback of my audio interface (ASIO) (which I wager are not buffer related - as there is not a single bit of difference if i quadruple the values) . . . .

I would have taken your money as it was a buffer issue for me - did you adjust both buffer values? I had to double both.

Magix are aware of the bugs and are working on fixes, you will note the some have already been fixed in the latest patch - check yours is up to date.

Thanks John - I appreciate your answer, but the frustration in my post comes from spending almost 1 of the 2 days I have used this testing different buffer settings, different ASIO drivers/combos, different ports on pc, many many restarts, disabling all unused sound devices...you name it I have tried it.

The problem is it will randomly fix itself.

Buffer aside (i can run in Wave mode for playback) - the crashing is just making this not fun to use and already I have moved back to the DAWs that work and are stable (I have 3 and they work flawlessy with the same equipment) - this software was just released to early without enough testing (as the bug list would suggest).

@Zool

Hi

The frustration in your first post is very understandable.

Random issues such as these are the hardest to pin down as to the cause, simply because they appear to be 'random' and may be a result of actions several steps back from where the fault occurred.

. . . . The problem is it will randomly fix itself. . . . .

This is almost as bad as the issue because the 'fix' is not obvious and may work for a while, then the issues come back.
