Converter driver install problem

rookyl wrote on 12/7/2024, 6:12 AM

Hi,

I have USB video converter K0067 and I can't install drivers for it to my computer.

Firstly, I installed MAGIX Video easy Rescue Your Videotapes! Version 5.0.3.113 and when it was installing device drivers I first encountered the error prompt "Please plug in video converter". I can't get past that.

When I click cancel from the prompt the install wizard shows error "FAILURE (0x2)".

What I've tried

  • Restarted my computer
  • Plugged the device in on different USB ports
  • Made sure it's the only USB device connected on my laptop
  • Tried downloading and installing the premium version drivers from https://www.magix.info/us/support/article/installation-procedure-magix-video-converter--710/
    • Tried running the setup.exe as administrator and turning off antivirus (Windows built in software)
  • Tried on a different computer with same outcome
  • Uninstalled all MAGIX software with Revo uninstaller, rebooted and then tried directly install the premium version drivers

When I plug in the device I'll see it in the Windows Device Manager as Unknown device under Other devices group:

Is there anything else I could try?

Thanks for any help!

@rookyl

Are you running Win 11? If so, this problem is caused by the default Memory integrity setting. The Magix drivers seem to trigger a (hopefully) false positive that they are "dangerous". (I know all this because I have just experienced exactly the same issue!)

I'm now running Win 11 Pro so I don't know whether this procedure can/will work if you have Win 11 Home.

You need to go to Settings>Privacy and Security>Device Security (click on its listing) and open the Core Isolation window. The first entry there is Memory integrity, you need to turn this off and leave it off (and Windows will flash all sorts of warning messages). Then try again to install the drivers for the USB Convertor, though in my case simply turning off that protection allowed the convertor to be used.

Hey and thanks for the reply!

I have Windows 10 (specs are on my signature).

I however checked the Memory integrity setting and it's disabled already.
