constant 'missing files' problems with Magix Music Maker 2016

constant problems with Magix Music Maker 2016 - on Windows 10
When I go into the libraries of my Magix Music Maker 2016 and upload previously finished audio files I find that many tracks are missing - i.e all the music or some vocal tracks.
There is often an information panel displayed which states that, say, tracks 2-9 are no longer in the file but if I know where they are in their respective folders I can upload them from there etc. (I do not know where they are and would likely load up the wrong file anyway.). This has now meant that I have lost masses of work produced over the last few years now.
It seemed to have stopped when I stopped uploading updates from your company but there were still many instances of crashes meaning that I constantly had to create 4 or 5 back up copies of each track when I'd completed any significant amount of work on them. Also, Sometimes, say, 3 of the back up copies would also go missing which made it prudent for me to make 5 backup copies as I went along. This is highly inefficient and time consuming as a work practice but my main concern now is that MANY of my previously completed files are now without their original vocal tracks.
I would like to upgrade (for free) to see if this update can find my missing work (If that's possible?) but fear I will lose even more of my completed works, currently still available.
Is my music retrievable or have I wasted years on production because of MAGIX poor program efficiency ?
Please advise
(sent to MAGIX)

@joepope

You have posted exactly the same question in this thread which has now been closed because of the duplication. Please do not create duplicate threads, there is no point and any user willing to offer help will not know to which thread he/she should reply.

My apologies - I thought I was also sending it to tech help. I hope you've only deleted one of them then. To delete both would be petty and non constructive.

thanks

Hi

. . . . I hope you've only deleted one of them then. To delete both would be petty and non constructive. . . . .

Read @emmrecs comment again - that remark is neither necessary nor appreciated.

We need more information on your issue:

. . . . Magix Music Maker 2016 and upload previously finished audio files I find that many tracks are missing . . . .

Do you mean 'open a project' not upload previously finished audio files - finished audio files are the exported audio file eg mp3, wav?

After completing a project do you back it up using File, Backup, Save project and used media?

If not do you backup or move the project and media to another 'finished' folder or another drive and then remove it from the working folder it was in?

When you want to retrieve an older project do you copy it back to the original location before editing?

Do you delete files in the AudioTemp folder?

. . . . Is my music retrievable or have I wasted years on production because of MAGIX poor program efficiency ? . . . .

That depends on the answers to the above, it is almost certainly not because of the program.

my apologies but I was informed 'my post was duplicated and therefore deleted'
in response to your appreciated assistance ;

Do you mean 'open a project' not upload previously finished audio files - finished audio files are the exported audio file eg mp3, wav?
I mean when I open a project (with numerous tracks in progress).

After completing a project do you back it up using File, Backup, Save project and used media?
Yes I back-up any 'completed project' and, up until it's completely finished & ongoing work is being done over a period of weeks, I repeatedly save and back up 5 x copies of the same file every time I have a significant amount of work done that I would I would not like to lose if the program crashes or loses tracks for no apparent reason.

When you want to retrieve an older project do you copy it back to the original location before editing?
Any 'older project' is still located in it's named folder within MMM ie 'song name/song folder/ MMMProjects' - ie I just go into MMM, click on file/open, go to the folder within MMM and open the folder up as I've always done (if that makes sense ?)

Do you delete files in the AudioTemp folder?
No - I'm always wary of deleting any 'Temp' files if I'm honest, so I leave any of that deeper stuff alone lol.

Thanks again for your valued assistance and apologies if I appeared rude.

As a matter of correct detail, please re-read my previous post, where I actually wrote: "You have posted exactly the same question in this thread which has now been closed"  Please notice, closed (to prevent further posts to that thread) not even hidden and certainly not deleted.

@joepope

When you record the vocals, you can decide where to put them in the recording parameters. Before recording or basically doing anything, always save your project with a name. When you record, the recording is automatically assigned a name using the project name as a preface followed by "- 0001" then 2, 3, etc. Look at these. Note where they are being saved to. Make sure that you do not have recordings with the same name, possibly overwriting an existing recording, or even recorded to a separate folder but with the same name.

My recordings all go to the default folder as per the Programs Settings beside Recordings. You can also check the box to have the recordings put under the defined project folder. Look at what you have for the default.

The program remembers where these files are. If you move any of them to another folder or delete them, the program will not be able to find them and will ask you to find them. The path and filename is proposed. If you moved the recording file, then you have to navigate to that location. As I said, you should never allow recordings using the same name, thus the name will be unique and you can search your hard drive(s) for the file using Windows Explorer or the app Search Everything.

If you have older projects that were created using older versions of Music Maker, then you will likely have a complete set of folders for each version under My Documents. Is this what you have? Did you move any recordings from previous versions to the newer location? Look under these as well.

Note that the newer versions of MusicMaker no longer create their own project file setup, so this problem has been removed.

Thus, since the program did not immediately find your files, you must have either deleted them or moved them. No one can help you but yourself. Search for the files.

Note that the program does not delete or move your files, you do.

Thanks - I do the same as you. ie Record the vocal tracks, amend and mix them to get a few connecting vocal tracks (along with the music which is often my own so this is also on different tracks) and then I save the file in the MAGIX folder as anyone would and as the program dictates I should do. Most of the time it can be recalled perfectly well but 'sometimes' there are missing files (see screenshot). This used to happen mainly if I had uploaded updates - It was like the program wouldn't fully recognize the files anymore and stopped tracks from loading with the rest of the file so I stopped uploading the updates and it stopped for quite a long time.

On top of this, I recently had a BSOD and had to reinstall windows 10 and all associated programs. I installed MMM from the original source / purchase / MAGIX and now it's worse than ever. Even though I can see all the files in the correct folders (not windows old folders but in current folders) there are vast swathes of information missing now. It's never really been able to handle the quantity of files I create I don't think. I realised also that if I went above 14 tracks there was a very high likelihood of tracks going missing once a file was recalled.
Thanks
