I Have the music Maker rock edition. It says I can record using a MIDI keyboard, which I have, but once I hooked it up and followed the tutorial on selecting it, there was no MIDI section for me to select the Keyboard.
do not put in the midi keyboard while you got magix running.
put in your midi keyboard THEN open magix.
it seems not to notice any midi devices while it is running assuming your trying to put in the midi device while magix is running.
After you close magix down or QUIT the programme then put in the midi your using then open magix again and it should know the device each time you open magix.
It will then automatically know the device from then on. (assuming) you do not take it out again. sometimes midi devices can be a real pain, and i use midi devices all the time at work.they can be annoying at times.
How are you connecting the MIDI keyboard to the PC?
Have you installed drivers for the keyboard?
Is the keyboard recognised as a device in Device Manager?
John
The keyboard is an MD-992. I dont think it came with drivers and any information i have found online doesnt really help. Its not viewable in the device manager either. I have a MIDI to USB cable on it and the USB ligh tis on but the MIDI and middle green lights are not on. I tested when the keyboard was on and tthen i turned on the program.
Sorry it took me so long to respond. I dont always have a ton of time to get things out and test.
. . . . I have a MIDI to USB cable on it and the USB ligh tis on but the MIDI and middle green lights are not on . . . .
Do you mean one like this
Assuming everything is connected correctly, then the lack of green lights on the USB converter would indicate that the MIDI signal is not being received by the converter.
Check the MIDI channel out is set to channel 1
Have you tried swapping the IN and Out plugs?
. . . . Its not viewable in the device manager . . . .
Is there an unrecognised device in the USB section of Device Manager? If a device is not visible in Device manager then it usually a driver issue - check the MIDI - USB converter manufacturers website for drivers.
Yeah it looked like that! OK ill try setting the channel to 1. What do you mean swapping the in and Out plugs? I got the USB to MIDI cable new about a month ago. Would they be faulty?
Ill check the cable manufacturers site too. I have Windows 7, 64 bit
So I checked the Manufacter's site for both the cable and the keyboard. neither offer any drivers and I tried connecting the keyboard before turningon the program. It still isn't regocnizing it.
