Without knowing the soundcards specification or chipset it is difficult to advise - please read this post 

If ACL cannot see the Line in then you may need to enable it, or the Stereo mixer and use this as the source.

Assuming you have a Realtek chipset open Control Panel, Sound

On the Recording tab check that you can see the items as shown in the image below - you may need to check the two boxes shown.

 

Note - this is for Windows 7, if you are using Windows 8 or XP the dialog is slightly different.

If ACL still cannot see the Line in then enable the Stereo Mixer and use this as the recording source note - you will need to turn off the system sounds otherwise every ping, whistle, bells, boings etc you have active will be recorded as well.

Also check the Volume control levels are set correctly.
