Hi

AFAIK the only time you will get that message is when the computer you have installed the software on either has no Internet connection and/or you have chosen to register the software offline. 

The computer ID is generated when elect to register the software by email, phone or another computer, and is generated and displayed for you when you go through the registration process.

If you can register online from the computer ie connected to the Internet then manual activation is not necessary.
