Collor Correction

Can some one please tell me the procedure for using colour correction, tried lots of different ways, got the colours to change in the background oh my video but soon as I press the play back button the picture goes to the original colour.

I've never seen this happen! However, did you have the video clip selected/highlighted on the timeline?

emmrecs is absolutely correct you need to have the clip selected.
