closing a movie edit pro mx program file

rhtvstaff wrote on 4/25/2012, 6:48 PM

After editing a video in MEP MX I wish to close the.MVP  file and open a new .MVP file. I can not find a close program ( or file) command as in previous editions. If I open a new .MVP file the program wants to append it to the original file. I want to edit a separate file with nothing to do with the first one.

If I save the opened .MVP file and then exit the software. I can then restart the software and open a new .MVP file. Seems rather convoluted to do this. Any work around?

rhtystaff,

If you have saved your current project, trying to open a second one should give you the option of either closing the first one (and opening the second instead) or adding to it. You cant simply 'close' a project and have nothing there at all.

Note also that the second project is not appended which would be adding its contents to the first one. The second project will be opened as an second movie on its own set of timelines.

Carl

Hi

@ Carl  - One of us getting an odd behaviour with opening new projects

The method is not convoluted just the way MEP works depending on your starting point and what you are asking it to do - hopefully the description below will help.

If you save a project and then start a new one using File, New Project, the saved project closes immediately with no messages.

If you start a new project with the current one unsaved you get this message.

If you open an existing project other than the one loaded then you get this message

If you want to add the project to the loaded one ie put two movies on one DVD with the appropriate menus to handle them,  then click the Add New Project button - this creates a second timeline with the added project in it as Carl says.

Otherwise click the Close Project button at which point the first message will appear for you to save the loaded project if it has not been saved, before it is closed and a new one started.
