Cleaning Lab 16 Has A Reported Virus

jnpurdy wrote on 12/14/2023, 12:38 PM

Environment is Windows 10 (will not upgrade to Windows 11).
System: HP Compaq 6910p, GH719AW#ABA
Memory 4GB
No Magix elements is reported in Programs & Features

I am reinstalling Cleaning Lab 16, but I'm getting an error that PUA:Win32/Vigua.a is a potential virus but with low impact. How do I install this program. The install program is acl16dlx_div_us.exe

I was installing from OneDrive, so moved the install program to a non OneDrive location and received the same error.

@jnpurdy

Hi

Where did you get the installer from?

If not from your account at magix.com, then download it from there.

Login with the email address and password you used to activate Cleaning Lab and select My Products - you should see the download for the program installer and serial number listed.

. . . . PUA:Win32/Vigua.a . . . .

This is an old, potentially unwanted application (PUA) - are the Antivirus program and Windows up to date?

I started the download at https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center. I then clicked on the Audio Cleaning Lab 16 deluxe Installation program.

The download started from https://dl103.magix.com/act16dix_div_us.exe. I still get notices that the program has that PUA... file and won't let me proceed. Any more suggestions? I guess I could just turn off Windows Security.

@jnpurdy It could be the case that some of the additional softwares included in the installer are seen as unwanted by Defender. In the past Magix definitely included some shady tools, like PC cleaners, or even Browser Toolbars(?), nobody wanted or needed, if I remember it correctly.
