Changing video to landscape from portrait?

Runedog wrote on 10/3/2011, 4:31 AM

I made a mistake and took a video with my Bloggie in portrait mode instead of landscape. I usually use my Panasonic camcorder but didn't on this occasion :( Anyway, can anyone help/explain if there is any way to change this to landscape in MEP 18 and get rid of the black spaces around the scenes?

Many thanks

Graham

Hi Graham

From memory (not at my editing machine)

Select a clip - on the Effects tab, select Movement, Size/Position, Rotation.  On the right most rotation control rotate the image +90 or -90 degrees (type in the box showing the angle).

Then select the Section option and drag out the marquee to the actual image size.  This should then fill the screen - you may have to move the timeline cursor to see it happen.

Hi John,

Many thanks. I follow everything up to selecting the marquee in the section option then I get lost :( When I select the Section option, I cannot find any handles or whatever to drag out the scene in the preview window.

Oh, and thank you for the 'thumbs up' regarding the windshield, I appreciate that.

Hi Graham

If the image/video object is the same aspect ratio as the movie then select Like Movie if the AR is different then select Keep Proportions so that, for example people or objects do not get squashed or stretched - you can then crop as necessary.
