Changing the Size of Title Templates Is Broken!

Eli-Martyr wrote on 6/18/2023, 7:45 AM

Magix Movie Studio 2023 suite

version: 22.0.3.172

Title Templates:

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING:

- Changing the Size or position of REGULAR titles, is no problem. simple highlight the title object in the timeline, select the "Size" effect, and a drag box appears over the title for you to resize as you desire by dragging the mouse.

- In the previous versions of movie edit pro (which i used for years until just recently upgrading), chaining the position of title TEMPLATES was just as easy and simple. just highlight the title template (which has elements requiring multiple tracks as opposed to just one like regular titles) and box surrounds the whole effect for you to drag and reposition on the screen.

- In the most current version of Movie edit pro, you would imagine repositioning title templates would be just as simple and apparently it isn't. If you see the images below, when you choose a title template (simple things for example), and try to select it and reposition, the program seems incapable of moving ALL elements of the effect simultaneously together, so that the second you reposition on element of the effect, the effect is broken and useless. I can't seem to find any option that allows you to do the absurdly simple task of dragging and repositioning ALL the elements of a title template together, just like it did in previous versions. As of now, you can only reposition one element of the title template effects at a time, which is perfectly useless.

Does anyhow know how to fix this?.. and as usual, i fear it's something super obvious but i can't find it.

@Eli-Martyr

Hi and welcome to your first post as a long time user to the user to user support pages.

I too have noticed this but using the previous version (MEP 2022). I think this started with the introduction of putting rotation in with the size position effect.

The only solution I have found so far is to alter and line everything up manually.

Not only that but the initial scaling seems to have enlarged as well and placing one near a boarder or altering the sizes sometimes causes additional problems with the masks so not all elements will align.

That was as small as I could make that one.

Ray.

@Eli-Martyr @CubeAce

It's not just the Titles, it's the grouping in general, you can't group two objects, change them & have them change in harmony.

I just tried with that title template to copy n paste effects,

Change one track, Copy video Effects (SPR) , Next track below - Paste video effects, they will adjust but it's a pain. but the text track doesn't seem to play along & if you don't remove/untick Alpha when copying effects, Paste video effects freezes MMS - Taskmanager - End Task. 😒

Hi

IMHO the resizing of the captions with animated backgrounds should not be done as the resizing of some of the title elements expands them so as to be wider than the screen, this can be compensated for by re-positioning if the increase in size is relatively small.

However shrinking them means the start and end points of their animations are not at the edges of the screen. If this is acceptable then the quickest method is as @Former user has given you above

The behaviour you are seeing is due to the different way in which the Size, Position & Rotation is referenced, in prior versions the reference point for Size and Position for any object was the top left ie 0,0.

The new SPR reference for each object is the centre point of that each object, thus while the caption background and the mask(s) used are all full screen and their reference pont is the centre of the screen, this is not so for the titlte object which is smaller and its reference point is in its own centre.

Rescaling as a group does not affect the title object reference point the same amount as it does the caption background and mask(s) object(s).

Hi John.

I would agree but for the titles seem to be twice as large as they used to be before this problem arose.

Then all I tended to do was move them into a different position.

Using the minus key gives me this.

I pressed continue and then tried to resize and this happens.

It doesn't behave as a group but as it did anyway and just as hard to align and match the resizing.

What have I done wrong?

Ray.

@CubeAce What he wrote is pretty much the same as i wrote, Copy & Paste, I don't see you doing any pasting, just trying to manually align them?

Abbreviated -

Rescale

Copy the SPR effect

paste the SPR effect

Resize and poistion the Title object.

Hi Gid.

As sometimes happens when browsing or clicking onto a notification in an alerting email or the last reply you see to a topic I missed seeing your reply and only saw John's reply. I did not notice John's reference to your reply either in as much as it alerting to you having said anything on the topic. So I missed the copy and paste of one section of the resize / movement bit to another. Having re-read the whole lot, the procedure now makes much more sense and works a treat.

Thanks.

Ray.
