I've built up some tracks with a lot of separate objects on each, and need to move (or insert) a track before some of the others. Is it possible to do this?

You can easily move objects from multiple tracks -- simple select all you need with a click drag to cover the area. Make sure you first have your zoom set to show everything else you might leave some bits behind. I generally 'group' the object (chain linked icon) as soon as they are selected but it's not necessary.

You can also use the mouse modes to do this. Select Mouse mode for all tracks - shortcut 7. Drag the leftmost object downwards to track 2 or 3. Everything will move down to another track. Switch to Mouse mode for a track - shortcut 8, select the leftmost object on track 2 or 3, whichever you did before, and drag it up to track 1. You now have a blank track. Keep going. Don't forget to switch back to normal mouse mode - shortcut 6, which moves only selected objects.
