@SPow I think what you want to do is to change the concert pitch from its standard 440 Hz to 432 Hz or to 528 Hz?

emmrecs wrote on 1/26/2024, 10:34 AM

@SPow

I'm not sure why you would want to do this but I'm pretty certain there is no method, other than Transposing the song that MM can make the change you are asking about.

Solfeggio is a method of using the names of the Tonic Sol-fa scale to describe notes in any key, so rather than C D E etc., in C major or G A B in G major, one speaks of Do, Re, Mi etc., irrespective of the key of the music.

But how is this applicable to MM??

Hi Jeff

. . . . Solfeggio is a method of using the names of the Tonic Sol-fa scale to describe notes in any key . . . .

The Solfeggio scale is also a range of audio frequencies which are associated with healing and are often a feature of ASMR music.

Hi John,

Thanks for that heads-up re Solfeggio scale.

I still wonder how that could be applicable to or used in MM?

Hi, Solfeggio frequencies are popular on youtube sought out for healing the mind and body, regardless of whether you believe in it or not. It is applicable to MM because MM is about creating music Jeff.

So I am wondering how to change music I can create on MM to the certain frequencies of for example 432hz, 528hz and a few others. How do I change the concert pitch then please if that is what I need to do? Maybe I need another software like Audacity or Soundforge to change the frequency, but I'm not that technical so I don't really know. I couldn't achieve it in Audacity so I was hoping MM might have a way of doing it. Here is a link on youtube as an example All 9 Solfeggio Frequencies - Full Body Aura Cleanse & Cell Regeneration Therapy - YouTube Thank you.

@SPow You need a sampler VST or synthesizer VST and a tuner.

For example, use this free tuner VST from Melda: https://www.meldaproduction.com/MTuner

With this plugin you can check whether a played note A4 is tuned to 432 Hz.

For other frequencies you can use notes with a nearby frequency and tune it up or down.

Next, a synth or sampler VST can usually be pitch modulated with the pitchbend wheel on a MIDI controller. You can also set the pitchbend values in the Music Maker MIDI editor inside the CC editor area. Set the pitchbend wheel in a way that the tuner shows 432 Hz when you play A4. That's a pitchbend of about -0.3 semitones down.

If you don't want to use pitchbend but tune the notes directly on the VST instrument, you have to check this on a case to case basis. Some VST have fine tune settings to change the pitch of notes, others might not.

I think you should be able to create sinewaves which will sound exactly at 432, 528, 174, 285 hz etc. with the help of a free VST like https://www.meldaproduction.com/MOscillator

Sine waves generate pure tones and have no overtones. You can then try to combine them with other sounds or effects like reverb, chorus, flanger etc.

How are you creating music in Music Maker? With VST instruments or Soundpool loops?

At the moment Soundpool loops for Yoga & Meditation etc but I want to create my own meditative sound with VST Instruments (I am a novice).

@SPow

Hi,

At the moment Soundpool loops for Yoga & Meditation etc

I looked at the charts for the Solfeggio frequencies and music frequencies and the former all seem to be between normal music frequencies. You can use the Object effect Tempo pitch/resample to make adjustments to the pitch in cents (0.1 increments). You will have to calculate to get as close as you can to the Solfeggio frequencies. Or, at least use normal notes that are closest to the frequency. There is no other frequency adjustment that I can find.

There are probably VST plugins that could likely help.

I want to create my own meditative sound with VST Instruments (I am a novice).

After looking at your YT link, I tried to get sounds for a couple of them using VSTi's that I have like Analog Synths (1 and 2), Cinematic Soundscapes, Cinematic Synth, DN-e1 and Choir.

I recorded one note held down for several bars, made a pitch adjustment to get close to a Solfeggio frequency, and then copied it to a few tracks on which I tried out various instruments and voices. Most voices tend to change frequencies.

Interesting.

Can't say that I would listen to one note for a long time as per the video. I did notice in the video that either they or wrong or I don't understand, but 528 Hz is a tad higher than C#5, which is quite high. In the video, 528 Hz was much lower, at least to my ears.

What instruments do you have that could give the Zen types of sounds?

Maybe others have some ideas.

Wow thank you for your message and assistance. I actually have no idea how to create the sound they do on youtube lol! 😄 But I was thinking about elongating electronic keyboard/drones of some kind. I will have a look at the instruments you tried. Thank you. I wonder how others are creating specific hertz that they advertise on their songs? I tried it in Audacity but I didn't manage a good sound.

Hi

. . . . I was thinking about elongating electronic keyboard/drones of some kind . . . .

Do you mean something like this quick and dirty example:

This is the demo melody for the Space Pad (Modwheel) VSTi with added low pass filtering, chorus and limiting effects.

I would suggest you try several of the other VSTi's such as Cinematic Soundscapes, Celtic Harp, World flutes,

Do note: you must create your own compositions, eg chord progressions, you cannot use the demo MIDI objects 'as is' that are placed on the timelines, they are Copyright protected.
