Is there any way to change the speed I'm playing back video of? I've got a long piece I need to review and set markers throughout, but watching it at standard speed will take forever, I'd like to do 1.75x or even 2x speed. Is there any way to do this?

The easiest way is to use the J, K, L keyboard shortcuts for play reverse, stop, play forward respectively.
Successive presses of the L ( J) key will increment the forward (reverse) playback speed
Repeated J (L) key will incrementally slow down fast forward (reverse) playback, and eventually increase playback speed in the opposite direction.
K Stops playback.
I would suggest you play with these to get used to their actions.

Thank you both! I did need to enable the setting, so thank you @Gid for the screenshot, and the keyboard shortcuts are very helpful @johnebaker. This gets me partway there, but unfortunately, it mutes the audio so that I can't hear the discussions I need to mark. Is there any way to enable sound playback with this feature, or am I just out of luck on this front? Thanks again!

Turn on Scrubbing long - click the small speaker icon right end of the toolbare above the timeline - see image below, this works better using the Jog/Shuttle controls or dragging the timeline cursor.

The main problem for me at least with listening to such sped up (or slowed down) audio in MMS or VPX is the audio comes in short audible blocks at normal playback pitch, truncated when sped up to fit the playback speed (so bits of the audio is missing) and repeated when slowed down that can make it difficult to follow or understand.
Also for finding the frame where a specific vowel or consonant is located becomes almost impossible just by scrolling back and forth. That is slightly easier to locate setting the audio scroll playback to 1 frame but even harder to understand during faster scrolling.
Depending on your work flow and what is important, Vegas in that respect behaves more like a daw during scrolling back and forth and is more analogue like in it's sound reproduction and is smooth and continuous in its audio performance and increases/decreases in pitch during scrolling instead. I find that more usable personally for that user case mode. It would depend on how you edit and listen to your audio.
