Cant figure out how to properly delay the text during title displays

In my project I'm using Title Templates with text as transitions between photos and video's. I would prefer that some of the scenes go completely dark for a few seconds (Or More) before the text starts to appear and in some cases even go completely dark after the text has been read so it doesn't run into the following clip. I  cannot figure out how to delay the appearance of the text aside from just extending the "Fade-In" on the clip but it still doesn't give me the effect that I'm looking for and makes the title clip too long. I've noticed that if I simply leave a gap in the timeline before the title template I can achieve the effect that I'm looking for but I am concerned about the possible ramifications of having gaps in the image timeline...Is it OK to leave gaps like this?...and if not is there another method for delaying the appearance of the text in my titles?

Hi,

Which version of MEP do you have and is it Plus or Premium...or just basic?

Assuming that you downloaded and installed the extra content and have a recent version of MEP, then under the Templates tab in the Media Pool, Image objects, Test images, there are files with the main colours. Select the background that you want, probably black, and import it onto the timeline and place it on track 1 where you want and stretch or shrink it for the length that you want. Put your title on track 3 or 4, arranged to leave a second or so before the title shows.

Do not leave any gaps. You will get an error when you go to export. Obviously, you did not watch my tutorials on basic editing in MEP or you would know this. You may want to view them.

Thank you John CB..I have MEP plus and it did have the templates that you described and it is EXACTLY what I was searching for. I have watched your tutorials and found them to be very, very helpful. thanks for creating them I don't know if I would have ever figured out half of the things that you detailed.

@Kaywahjay

Hi,

Glad to hear that you have it sorted and that you have watched my tutorials. I keep meaning to add more, like transitions and titles without duplicating what Magix has done in their tutorials, but other stuff keeps getting in the way.
