Cant choose headphones as Wasapi driver

skybellrock wrote on 6/16/2018, 11:33 AM

Cant choose headphones as Wasapi driver. This means I cant get sound in my headset. My headset is plugged in via a standard audio jack. My pc has Conexant ISST Audio channels (one for headset and one for speaker). Music maker discovers my headset but when I click to choose it it just says that "none" is chosen. It wont let me choose my headset.

Hi

Have you tried using the Direct Sound drivers?

Im not sure what you mean by this. All I know is that I have tried every single ASIO channel and I cant choose the headset output in the program.

Hi

In the program settings, Audio/MIDI tab change the setting shown in the image below as follows:

Select Direct Sound (1) and then from the dropdown (2) select the headphones if they appear there or primary audio device.

If there is still no sound, select Wave driver (3) and then from the dropdown (2) select the headphones if they appear there or the speakers.

in the image above , did you click on the "Advanced" Tab , to view the black box dialogue ,...After you selected the ASIO radio button using ( 1 + 2 ) . Next ,In the black box dialogue box ( you can click the wrench too ) at the lower right corner . On the Left side pane , is where your sound card device is to be selected , when using the Magix Low Latency ASIO ( 1 + 2 ) . Your headphones should work with Magix ASIO . Here , for me , Magix ASIO works with USB headphones and with Realtek on-board 5.1 surround sound . But , I MUST go into the black box dialogue and select the Sound device that is currently being used by Window's Audio Property settings , Black box dialogue box MUST match that of Windows Audio Properties , when using Magix Low Latency ASIO ( 1 + 2 )

Sounds bizzare but just re-installing solved my same problem

Hi

. . . .I MUST go into the black box dialogue and select the Sound device that is currently being used by Window's Audio Property settings . . . .

I have the same if I use BT headphones - even though I can set both the BT headphones and the audio card for output in the Advanced box and Windows automatically sets the default playback device to the BT headphones, I still have to turn off the audio card in the Advanced settings before I can hear anything on the headphones.

If the USB headphones also have a standard 3.5mm cable use that instead, there is no having to switch outputs in MMM.

i have said this somewhere else , still good to repeat it. Music Maker locks out and takes Exclusive control of the sound device that is selected inside of Music Maker settings . When Music Maker is directed to use the System default sound device( card ) All other programs are prevented from using the Default sound device . To use 2 sound devices concurrently : The computer can use on board RealTek audio as the system Default sound device( browser , youtube audio , game audio ) RealTek is select in window's settings. Next , in Music Maker , select a headphone audio Device . The browser has audio thru Realtek to external speakers( youtube perhaps ) while Music Maker Time Line plays audio thru the headphone audio device , simaltanioiuslly . To have the most flexibility with Music Maker, it is best that the computer have 2 or more audio devices .

That is what I would expect, however that is not what occurred in practice - when the bluetooth headphones are switched on they became the default Windows playback device, both on my PC and laptop as seen in Windows Sound settings, my USB headphones also did the same.

this is how it works for me . windows default audio uses Realtek , while Music Maker plays thru USB headphones . That whole situation came up when someone said that Music Maker would lock out the sound card . They wanted to run Music Maker( with Time Line audio ) , while watching Music Maker tutorials in a Browser( with audio ) . They couldn't do it . But you can , as noted above .

Blue Tooth must have something special going on.

Hi

. . . . Blue Tooth must have something special going on . . . .

That is quite possible as the audio, no matter what format it is, has to be transcoded to another BT audio specific codec for transmission.

Yet another complication added to the MMM saga.

MM 28.12 works same as before .

Window's audio control panel , using AMD audio to TV speakers set as ( Default Device and Default Communication Device ) . In Music Maker , using WAV driver 16 bit with Logitech G633 headphones . Music Maker Time Line plays in Logitech headphones, while a causual style game has game audio on TV speakers. 2 audio devices playing Simaltainiouslly.

side note: best Music Maker Synthesizer audio occurs when Project is set to 16 bit 44.1 khz and when the sound card\audio device is using 16 bit 44.1 khz . The synthesizer samples were recorded at 44.1 khz. It is important to keep the MIDI clock at 44.1 khz for accurate synthesizer pitch . The samples may have been recorded at 24 bit , such as with Samplitude synthesizers. However , Music Maker only supports 16 bit .

Export from Music Maker at 16 bit 44.1 khz .wav .

28.0.3.51 In Music Maker choose ASIO "Magix Low Latency 2016" , now at the Top choose Magix Low Latency ( 1 + 2 ) . Now click Advance button to open the Black dialogue box. On left side pane , choose your headset\BT audio device . I did all that . Here i choose Logitech G633 USB headphones . In window's audio control panel i have AMD audio running to TV speakers . AMD audio device is set as ( Default and Communication ) device ( 2 settings ) in window's Audio Control Panel . Music Maker Time Line and keyboard with synthesizers all play to G633 headset , while all System audio plays to the TV thru AMD audio device . All programs that enumerate to use default system audio , will play thru AMD audio to the TV speakers .
