cannot write data

i get the error message "the selected folder is write protected cannot write any data" i am using movie edit pro mx plus 11 when i click on the red button to record from my VHS recorder  i set it up to save to a folder on my desktop but when i click the red button i get the error the selected folder is write protected cannot write any data  followed by another error could not connect to selected device my device is a easycap and is showing pictur and sound in preview screen  i am running windows 7 64bit

Hi,

You can't be using MEP to import a VHS tape to your computer without some sort of frame capture hardware device.  If that is what you are trying to do, it simply won't work.  Analog tape needs to be digitized and imported into your computer before you can do anything with it.

Check that your drivers for the Easycap are up to date and that the device is visible in Device Manager when it is plugged in.

 You should not use the desktop for storing files.  The file path can become very long and exceed the limit imposed by Windows. 

Create the folder in the root of your C drive and point MEP to this in File, Settings Playback tab.
