Cannot uninstall Video de luxe...

John-deHaas wrote on 12/29/2024, 7:21 PM

When trying to open de video deluxe version 2022 after a while, the software wants me to install the travelmaps options and the cloud import options.
This comes with an error that the install files are not on a local disk, but on a cloud disc which is not supported.
I can move on with discarding the installation of those 2 options..

But the system (Windows 11 on a Dell i7 with 32 RAM) is slow en cannot open any movie files without hanging or restarting of the software.
So i want to uninstall Magix and reinstall a new version, because this versionis corrupted....

Now these 2 error comes up:Installation package can't be opened.
The install source is not available. error 1612.

It needs a file called Video_deluxe_2022_premium_setup.ms_
It should be in the folder C:\Program files (x86)\magixservices\uninstall ......
It is not there... !

How do i uninstall this version?

@John-deHaas

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Have a look at this Microsoft article about how to remove programs that cannot be uninstalled via the standard methods.

Hi

. . . .  the system (Windows 11 on a Dell i7 with 32 RAM) is slow en cannot open any movie files without hanging or restarting of the software . . . .

In addition to @emmrecs comment, what is the full specification of your laptop?

See this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what the monitor resolution is you are working with.

I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Given VDL 2022 struggles on importing video, it would help if we know more information about the videos you are importing.

What video format, codec and resolution are you importing - to help with this download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips causing the issue and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

. . . . So i want to uninstall Magix and reinstall a new version, because this versionis corrupted . . . .

Do you mean upgrade to a later version of VDL?

If so I would suggest you do not upgrade to a newer version yet, there is the possibility that, depending on the laptop specification and video data asked for, the laptop may struggle even more with a newer version of VDL.

Thank you all for replying. I will put more info in my profile.
But for now the only thing I want to do is reinstall this version.
Even if i don't import images/video's the software hangs. and i have to "force stop" in taskmanager.
I've already tried the tip from Jeff... After a while it could not uninstall this version of VDL. Probalby because there should be a sort of MSI file to uninstall.. See error above...

@John-deHaas

Thank you for the additional information.

Since the M$ Uninstall Troubleshooter seems not to have worked for you, I wonder whether you should follow (carefully) the advice in this tutorial and see if that enables you to fully remove the existing VdL installation? Although originally written for users experiencing problems with a Win 10 upgrade, it also applies to situations such as you are in.

Are the drivers for your Intel UHD Graphics fully up to date? You need to check this on the Intel site, don't depend on Windows Update.

Hi,

even if i don't import images/video's the software hangs. and i have to "force stop" in taskmanager.

Can you be more specific about when the program hangs?

If you are trying to preview a file that the program doesn't like, then it could hang. These include corrupt and variable frame rate videos. I have found that the program does not like some of my files and the hard drive goes to 100% for a while, then comes back and I can continue.

When you have a hang, check the performance in the task manager to see if there is anything strange. Wait about 5 minutes to see if the program continues.

If there is a problem with any of your files, then reinstalling the program will not help, and could even make things worse.

When trying to open de video deluxe version 2022 after a while, the software wants me to install the travelmaps options and the cloud import options.
This comes with an error that the install files are not on a local disk, but on a cloud disc which is not supported.
I can move on with discarding the installation of those 2 options..

"When trying to open .... " Does the program open or not? I presume that it does, but please confirm.

TravelMaps options...? What screen is present when this happens and what are you doing? Please show screen shots. I don't know of any TravelMaps options other than Themepacks that should be downloaded under the Templates tab. You have to buy them first.

Did you at least install Travelmaps from the additional content, and everything else? There is a message that pops up after installation about installing the additional content. Is that what you mean? Screen shots please.

Same with the error message about cloud disc - screen shots please.

Hi

In addition to @emmrecs comment, the i7-10700 processor with integrated UHD 630 GPU, latest driver version is 31.0.101.2134

There are other possible contributing factors to the issues you are having:

. . . . 256 GB (C-Drive) . . . .

How much free space is there on this drive you require at least 15 - 20 % free space, preferably more when video editing, after all programs are installed, I do not go below 100GB of free space on my laptop.

Was VDL 2022 installed, or attempted to install, on the second 2 TB E: drive.
