Cannot open file - Magix Music Maker 2013

Hi,

I'm trialing Magix Music Maker 2013 in my school (I am IT dept).

When I save arrangements to a network location it saves fine.

When I try to re-open the arrangement from within Music Maker I get an error - Cannot open file ***.mmm.

If I browse to where the arrangement is saved, open it, Music Maker loads and opens the song.... !

Network locations are pathed thus... "\\10.10.10.10\foldername$\music folder"

Any idea's?????

Could it be that Music Maker does not have permissions to open the file when going through the program to open them, but if you go to the file it will open the program.

I think this is just a case of the software not having authorization from Windows to access the network. I am not sure if such permissions can be granted within the software... I am afraid I am not IT enough.

Hi,

I would agree with John-Auvil's assesment. When I worked at Hewlett Packard (for almost 30 years), we could save files that were scanned and allowed by the corporate firewall and AV app. to the network drives, but when we tried to re-open them using the client application, access was basically denied. It is a security thing. When we navigated to the file and double clicked it, or used the network drive as the path, all was well. All companies including educational institutions have their own security quircks and I am assuming that you are experiencing one of them with your school.

Just so you know, corporate IT security was what I did in the last few years at HP.

Agree with both John and George - try using a mapped drive to the files location instead of a UNC path.

Creating the mapped drive will use the logged on users credentials.

MMM is probably using the System account to access the UNC path which it does not have permission to. Using a mapped drive it should use the credentials of the user.

I have the same problem with MM 2013 and already tried all

Administrator rights... put in the same folder ...but not result.Tried with xp and 7.I gonne by using mmm 2013! , (

I will give up if i get not solution soon. :(.

This is the best prank: work like a fool, days after days, and some day, when you press save, this stupid program erase all the work!!!!

It can not open it!!! Even from back-up file!

Because, even it´s set to autoback-up every ten minutes, it does not!

It is incredibble that such programs still delusion peoples! Shame on you, Magix!

And, nobody from Magix don´´t answer to this...
