Cannot open arrangement after crash

Rinaldo69 wrote on 8/25/2013, 9:00 AM

Hi all,

I need help very urgently.

I was working on an arrangement in Music Maker 2013, and was almost finished when my pc crash. (Win7)

I have the auto backup on at 10 minutes, an backed up myself, the arrangement,  frequently.

But now, after this crash, i cannot open the original MMM file.

It doesn't say why, just that it cannot open this file.

Also my userdata folder is empty. (there is no Crash dir in it)

How can i open this arrangement again ??

Please help me !

Hi,

In MM go to "file" then "backup disc" then "load backup arrangement"  there may well be a backup of your project in the backup folder.

The windows crash could have corrupted your original file.

Well, that's also the problem.
When i do that, there is a BAK file, but from many days ago (when the track only had 2 bars of ryhtm), so it's a useless file.
The MMM file i worked on is also there, but won't open. But that's the file i need to open.
It contains almost the complete song.

If this file is corrupted by the crash, Is there a way, to repair this "corrupted" file ?
(Maybe the crash added some extra symbols in the file, which can be removed via wordpad ? )
Anyone ?

Hi

. . . . If this file is corrupted by the crash, Is there a way, to repair this "corrupted" file ?
(Maybe the crash added some extra symbols in the file, which can be removed via wordpad ? ) . . . .

No - the file contains the database backup of what was in the project and is not decipherable in any text editor.

. . . . my userdata folder is empty. . . . .

Assuming you mean everything in the userdata folder was gone - then the crash was serious - have you done a full system check, anti-virus and anti-spyware scans?

Allthough my win7 is a new recent install i scanned and there are no viruses, spyware or that kind of thing found. It's just simply not there. (the Crash dir)

Anyone knows in what code the MMM file is written ?

Finally you have posted your question and seem you are still facing problem. Bad luck if user data folder is empty. Please also provide the user data folder path for confirmation if you are looking at right place such as the path could be C:Program Data/Magix/Music maker (name of version). This file could be hidden.
.

Next if you still got your mmm file and could not open leave that. Do not change anything or delete anything. Try to do some random work and save your arrangements. Clear your internet browser's history and cookies. Turn off computer after a while re-start computer open Music Maker File/Load arrangements the file giving you trouble before.

IF you still face problem follow another method, use File Manger of Music Maker browse your arrangement double click on it. If the file is valid everything will be appeared on the arranger as it was.  The mmm files shows problem only when the required audio files gone missing. Means, when you were working something happened and the arrangements got saved but not all the required data. However, in most cases Crash file also got saved.

Will wait for your reply.

Well, and it happened again with a new track i was working on.

The program crashed, and now it will NOT load the MMM file any more.

It jsut sayd, "Cannot open file..."

What is this with Music Maker !?

And again i have no Crash directory ( and yes, i see all hidden files)

Also via the File Manager when i go to back up arrangements, there are only very old back ups from whe i staretd the track. So they are of no use.

So have the MMM file, but it won't open anymore. Small detail, that the track was 99% done...

I'm starting to hate this program, if you know what i mean.

I just had something similar happen to me... I was an idiot and tried saving the project during playback (which is always the reason for the program freezing)... and I can't access the file again. However, I was able to look in Users-Tera-My Documents-Magix-Music Maker 2013 Premium, and found a few MM_ files (backups, I guess). The most recent file was saved pretty much right before the crash. Had to select Magix as the program to open the file, but it worked and I have ALMOST everything that I had recorded. If you said that you backed up the arrangements yourself pretty frequently, I am not sure why it's not showing you more of the work you had done. Please let me know if you have resolved this at all, since I want to know for future reference in case it happens to me again.

By the way, I got FL Studio for Christmas, so after I finish with the mini-album I'm making (that I've started in Magix), I am moving on. Magix is a great program... but the few problems you encounter with it are so so so frustrating.

Hi tcatallo,

No, i still didn't find a solution for this, other then starting all over again.

I'm also thinking about using other programs.

How can we stil work using this stupid program?

Who want to lose his time, his creativity???

This is the best prank: work like a fool, days after days, and some day, when you press save, this stupid program erase all the work!!!!

It can not open it!!! Even from back-up file!

Because, even it´s set to autoback-up every ten minutes, it does not!

It is incredibble that such programs still delusion peoples! Shame on you, Magix!

And, nobody from Magix don´´t answer to this...
