I am having the same problem with loading .mp3 files. I did uninstall/re-install a couple times to no avail. And also tried the "reset all preferences and cached data" with no effect.
I then attempted to submit a support request as you described. I filled in all the fields, but when I hit "submit", I get an "unable to submit your support request" message. No explanation on how to resolve. So I am kind of in limbo.
Did you try uninstalling with a third-party uninstaller that can remove left-over registry entries and other pertinent data the OS uninstall leaves behind, which in usually the root of recurring issues Revo Uninstall and Geek Uninstall are two that have pro and freeware versions.
