cannot import grayscale jpegs

I just finished tearing some hair out, having finally figured out why one of my jpegs wouldn't import into MEP.  I had previously successfully and easily imported hundreds of jpegs, why not this one??

Because it was a grayscale jpeg image.

Simple workaround - convert the file to RGB jpeg.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi

This is a common problem with any images which are not 'standard'.

In a nutshell a standard jpg is composed of three colour components, Red, Green and Blue.  Each component can have up to 256 levels of 'colour', 0 = none (black) to 256 = full colour.

A greyscale jpg has only 1 colour component - white which can have 256 levels - 0 = black, 256 = white.

As a result of this any software eg MEP which expects a jpg in RGB format will not be able to read a greyscale jpg.
