Just purchased Movie Edit Pro 16 Plus. On trying to transfer video from Panasonic SDR-S50 using Record funtion Pop Up states 'Could Not Connect to the Selected device'.
I can Import an .MOV file from the Camcorder but there is no audio with it.
Your SD-camera records in MPEG-2 format. The Record-function only works with Tape-cameras with Firewire-cable, as far as I know. So you must copy the files to the harddisk, via USB, using Import-function in Magix, or the ordinary Explorer in Windows. (I think you'll find the camera as an external unit) Or you can put the SD-card in a cardreader for transferring.
If the MOV-files are dumb, you could try to install QuickTime Player. (free on net)
Get the latest version of Quicktime for the mov import. It maybe that your camera produces strange or unclear header information in the mov files. If so you could try running the files through the SUPER freeware. Click on stream copy for audio and video. This is a popular cure for troublesome mov files.
You can only transfer via firewire. However, if you have USB, then in the Edit window, in the explorer, your camera should be listed as a drive, in which case click on it, locate the files and try to drag and drop them onto the timeline.
