Cannot activate through Wine because of failing connection check

  • Product: Magix Music Maker Premium 2017 (full version)
  • Operating system: Ubuntu MATE (libnss-mdns:i386 is installed)
  • Wine 4.0.3 (latest) with 32 bit Wineprefix (issue also occurs on 64 bit)
  • Emulation set for Windows 10

Since I'm a Linux user and I don't have Windows installed, I've been so far using MMM on Wine, it's a compatibility layer that helps running non-Linux apps.

Some time ago I had MMM working, but to fix some issues with another app I had in Wine, I've cleared my Wineprefix, accidentally removing MMM with it. Since that time, I've had troubles running MMM because both the installer and the app itself claim they have no internet connection, yet all HTTP requests are done correctly. I can install the program thanks to the "ignore" option in the installer when it says there's no connection, but I cannot activate it, because in-app the error doesn't have the button:

I noticed that every time the installer or app attempts to check the internet connection, these lines appear in Wine's logs:

0030:fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionExW Flags 00000000 ignored 0030:fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionExW Flags 00000000 ignored 0030:fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW INTERNET_OPTION_CONNECT_RETRIES 3 0030:fixme:dnsapi:dns_map_options option DNS_QUERY_BYPASS_CACHE not implemented 0030:fixme:dnsapi:dns_copy_rdata unhandled type: DNS_TYPE_OPT

Line #4 suggests this is an issue of Wine, however considering it's only an issue of the internet connection check and not the internet connection itself, I hope there could be a way to skip the check.

In short: The program does have internet connection, can request and download resources, but despite this "thinks" it has no internet connection, preventing me from activating it.

So in order to fix this, I'd like to ask if there is a way to skip the connection check or to activate the program manually?

By the way, if I don't use soundpools but use the instruments I bought or got for free, can I use my songs for commercial use?

Thank you in advance.
