Cannot activate audio lab software online

tombwilson wrote on 11/14/2020, 6:48 AM

Hi,

Whenever I reinstall Windows 10 My audio lab software no longer works. I usually download it again and the code activates without issue.

I am now seeing an error message

I have tried to create an activation code but that is also showing an error

I found a link to Magix Support that wanted access to my pc details, but that would not follow through either.

There is no obvious email address to contact support without going through some programme that fails.

Can anyone help ?

Cheers, Tom.

@tombwilson

You need to access your Magix account, log in, go to My Products, find the entry for ACL and there will be a Deactivate option. It seems you already have the maximum number of activations used so choose any or all of those which are no longer needed and deactivate them. Then activation of the new install should be possible.

As a matter of information, most Magix software allows for a maximum number of activations, two; once this is exceeded, the error message will be shown and the user must deactivate at least one of the then-current activations.

@emmrecs

Hi Jeff,

I think that Tom is using a version that using the old system whereby if you use too many activations/reinstalls (3 or 5), you get locked out and have to get a reset from Magix. I think that there is a way to do this but I don't recall how.

@tombwilson

Hi,

Does your serial start with P2 or P3?

@browj2

Good point, about the "age" of the particular software!

I remember, a number of years ago, before the advent of the online Magix account, something similar happened to me; the only solution was to contact Customer Service directly and ask that the number of activations be reset. I seem to remember having to supply precise details of why I had "used up" all my activations but the process itself was relatively painless and the reset was done pretty quickly.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, you all have great points.

The program has a P2 activation code. Its old but its still very useful. (it was originally a CD purchase)

There is no option to deactivate in my products. There has never been a limit on this software. I have that option with the video software but not the Audio lab.

The reason for the higher activations is that the new installs of windows 10 (Started late 2018) are wrecking my registry and programs like Magix Video and Audio Lab and a few others will not start even though they are still on the PC. With each update I get a new Desktop-ID so it must look as if I have lots of pc's (I only have 2) The only fix is to delete and re install each time. Not a problem with the video software but this is the first time Audio lab has not activated.

What I need is an email for magix customer services direct. If anyone can help or customer services are viewing this they may have a solution.

Thanks Tom.

Hi

. . . . The only fix is to delete and re install each time. . . . . With each update I get a new Desktop-ID . . . .

I assume you mean upgrade with the biannual major upgrades.

That would suggest there is an issue Windows 10 and your user profile and/or your Windows installation is corrupted if it isgiving a new User Id every time it upgrades - Security updates and patches should not do this.

Check your Windows system as follows:

Open a Command window (CMD.EXE) in administrator mode.

In the command window enter the following command(s) running them one at a time

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

sfc /scannow

The last command (sfc) you may need to run up to 3 times to if errors are found - some may not be fixed on the first run, if there are errors at the end of the 3rd run these can be ignored.

These will check (and fix) any errors found in your Windows installation.

Thanks john for taking the time. Windows 10 is working fine. It is just a few of my added programs that have an issue. Same ones each time. Its no hardship, and of them, it is only audio lab that is not authorising. The Magix Video is fine. So it seems Magix jusy needs to reset the Audio Lab on their site, but I have no means to get in touch. The help on the Magix site just does not follow through.

Btw. I ran the commands just in case. No errors were found.

@tombwilson The mail is infoservice@magix.net but you could get problems with ACL 16 and Windows 10. Even Version 2016 doesn't work correctly under Windows 10 for many users and your version is from 2009 which was 5-6 years earlier.

@tombwilson

Hi,

I don't know if this will work but go into your account, click on Create Activation Code, enter your Serial Number and see what happens. If it gives you a new code, then you're away.

Hi,

The Audio lab software has activated 😀

Thanks SP for the email. I was just about to use it when I thought I'd give it one more try and it activated as usual.

I cannot say precisely what has changed, possibly it may lock me out for a period if I try to reinstall too often (which is something new) or someone reset it. Who knows ?

Thanks for comments and support. Much appreciated.

Best, Tom.
