Can you use .SVX files in MMM 2015?

elias-breidenbach wrote on 7/26/2018, 8:38 PM

Hi, I have just purchased the Sonivox Orchestral Companion Brass to use it in Magix, but I saw that the fles I bought were .SVX files. I didn't think much of it until I tried to directly import the files into MMM, and Magix gave me a message saying that it couldn't read the files. Is there a way to import .SVX into Magix, so I don't have to beg for a refund?

P.S., the warning also tells me to make sure the driver isn't full or write protected... I don't know what that means or how to fix it, so I would appreciate some advice in that area, too.

Thanks.

Hi

The SVX files are the sound sample files used by the Sonivox VST plugin and cannot be used on their own.

Assuming you have not added the VST folder location to MMM in the program settings then you need to do so using the option shown below

The Sonivox VST is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugIns

I went to that location in my file explorer, and the two files I found were iZOzone7Elements.dll and Ozone 7 elements.dll. Are those the right ones? I tried to import those into Magix as well, but they didn't work, either.

Hi

. . . . went to that location in my file explorer . . . . two files I found were iZOzone7Elements.dll and Ozone 7 elements.dll . . . .

This would suggest you did not install the 32 bit version of the VST. Whe installed with the default settings in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugIns there should be a folder called Sonivox which has 2 dll files in it - OrchestralCompanionBrass.dll and OrchestralCompanionBrass_x64.dll

. . . . tried to import those into Magix as well . . . .

If you mean that literally then that is not how to use a VST.

Once a folder has been added to the VST path, as I posted previously, MMM will scan and add compatible VSTs to the program. They will appear either in the Instruments tab as an Instrument, or via a track Effects rack (or in the mixer) as shown below

I don't want to use the effects, though, I looking to use the instruments. How can I do that?

@elias-breidenbach

Once MMM has been given the VST path where the installation, it should prompt you to register the software with Sonivox through iLok, it should then appear the Instruments tab.

The paragraph on VST usage and where they go was a more generic statements as VST can be instruments or effects and MMM can allocate where they are to go.

I had problems with the software, the major one being unable to licence it even though the iLok Licence Manager was installed it kept prompting to install the software - in the end I dumped the VST.

Oh, ok. I have registered and authorized the software, but it's still not working. Ok, I guess I'll give it up, then. Thanks for the help!!
