can't select certain restoration effects in Pro 12

Jason-Duncan wrote on 11/28/2019, 4:57 PM

Hello,

I have Sound Forge Pro 12 (build 29). I can't select Audio Restoration, Click & Crackle Removal, Noise Reduction, among
others, But I can select other options within the Tools tab. However I can select similar audio restoration options under the Effects tab.

I also have Vegas Pro 16 in which I can't select these audio effects.

Error message in Sound Forge "Plug-in Vegas Noise Reduction failed to load". Vegas and Sound Forge seem to be linked together.

My version of SF might not be 100% legit. It does have a serial number, but the product is licensed to: Team.V.R@ukr.net
(not the same name as my officially registered version of Vegas). I'm thinking about upgrading SF with Audio Cleaning Lab
for $60, but clicking on the Upgrade tab and reading the message "This offer will be activated immediately after verifying the program version that has already been registered", I'm wondering if I won't be able to access Audio Cleaning Lab.

Another issue I'm having is I can't select the stereo coax s/pdif record option in SF. My soundcard is a Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 which has coax s/pdif input. In Sound Forge, under Options tab/Preferences/Audio/Record, there is no stereo s/pdif option, only
s/pdif L (channel 9 & 27) and s/pdif R (channel 10 & 28). separate channels. And even when selecting one of these channels there is no input audio. I can only record analog via the 1/4"/ XLR inputs when recording with SF. However when I click the Advanced tab I see spdif L/spdif R, I/O as input, Channel as Multi Mono. I just can't access it during recording.

I can record using Audacity with the coax s/pdif from the Focusrite, but I'd prefer to use Sound Forge to record with.

I can record with Vegas using the Focusrite s/pdif. And here the record input is labeled "spdif L/spdif R.

1) If my version of SF
isn't registered to me, will I be able to access Audio Cleaning Lab?

2) If I'm able to access
these effects in Vegas, will I also be able to in SF? or vice/versa?

3) since there is spdif
L/spdif R record option in SF, how do I access it?

Thanks in advance~
Jason

See my comment on the VP forum. https://www.magix.info/us/forum/can-t-select-certain-restoration-effects-in-pro-12--1233636/

If you do not have the Magix account username, password from when SF Pro 12 was registered, you cannot download the product. The registration info is also needed to authorize it after installation,

I do not condone the use of pirated software.

Hi rraud. Thanks for your reply. I bought this version on eBay as a download. I guess I can't for sure if it is pirated software or not? I heard Pro 13 comes with iZotope effects so looks like I'll have to go that route.

SF Pro 13 includes iZ Elements plugs as well as the NR-2 pack. The Pro 13 Suite includes Steinberg SpectraLayers Pro 6 and some additional Fx plug-ins. See version comparison chart, I do not think you can get the upgrade discount if the serial # was initially registered by someone else.

Thanks rrand. Do you have any idea if Pro 13 allows for recording from the stereo s/pdif input from a Focusrite soundcard?

I do not record much directly to a PC.. nor do not have any experience with a Focusrite interface. Contact the Magix Sales Team for an official answer. I have though recorded from a S/PDIF source with an old version of SF Pro with a Win XP PC and an Echo interface. If it works with your current version of SF, it should work w/ Pro 13. The S/PDIF signal should be available in "Options> Preferences> Audio> Device Type> Record".

Ok I purchased Pro 13 64-bit build 124. How do I select to record in stereo? With using the Focusrite Scareltt 18i6 external usb soundcard, and when selecting Audio Device Type dropdown to the Focusrite, the only options I have seem have are mono channels (example: channel 9  s/pdif L, channel 10 s/pdif R) etc. Or if I select Windows Classic Wave Driver I get channel 1 mic usb audio codec L, channel 2 mic usb audio codec R etc.

When I play back the file, both channels are there however (confirmed with a 4-track recording where drums are in one channel and guitar in the other).

When recording in Vegas it lists both channels for whichever input I choose (spdif L/spdif R) etc.

@John-Cholerton Here is a solution for Vegas, which is a similar software. Maybe it will help you with Sound Forge

Error message: "Missing license" after installation

This problem is caused by a faulty installation of the file "installation.ini".
The following steps allow the problem to be resolved quickly:

Close your software.

Navigate to your application's main folder and delete the "installation.ini" file.

Uninstall the program from the Control Panel under "Programs and Features" or "Settings & Apps".

Reinstall your software.
