Can't open my song

Badman_Bacon777 wrote on 2/12/2014, 2:50 PM

I started making a song but when I got past a certain point it said "magix music maker has stopped working" I clicked on close magix and reopened my song, when I went past that point again it did the same, thing, so i clicked on "continue using program", it froze and I restarted my computer, when I opened it again I couldn't open my song, it says "(files name) cannot be opened", which kinda anoyed me because I spent a lot of time on this, this shoudn't happen to software like this, does anyone know how to recover my song and go past the point of where I stopped and it stopped working?

Hi,

You may be able to recover your song by clicking on file, then backup disc, then load backup arrangement.  Hopefully you saved it at regular intervals and did not disable automatic backup.

If you had provided your system specs (Ram, OS, CPU, available disc, etc) we probably could have given you some idea why the application crashed.  It is usually because you ran out of some resource that the app needed to continue to run.

You got two options to locate your lost files. (may be you have already tried).

1. Did you set your Music Maker to save project after some time or did you save your projects. In either case there should be a file for the project with mmm extension(ABCD.mmm) or there should be the back up file. Suppose your file name is ABCD project file or Back up file will be ABCD.mmm or ABCD.BAK.

Loading a project file is simple File/Load arrangements/ browse and open the file. But the Backup file need a method. File/Load arrangements you have to choose All files then you can see your backup file. Refer screen shot.

2. Do you know where your Application data is located. It could be hidden file so you have to un hide it first.

After finding your Application data (or whatever name is) open Magix folder and locate USERDATA. Inside this folder there will be all of your crashed files with mmm extension. If you double click on it Music Maker will open it.

I think I should  stop now and hope above information will be helpful.

Hi

. . . . I have 8 RAM and a lot of available disc left, does that give any ideas . . .

None at all !

George asked for your computer specification  - the above is not enough - please include:

   -  computer make/model

   -  processor type and speed

   -  installed RAM

   -  hard drive capacity and free space

   -  audio card/chipset type/model

John
