Can't install Independence Pro Library into Samplitude Pro X5

Thomas-Foley wrote on 3/29/2021, 9:44 PM

I'm a reasonably intelligent fellow but can't figure out for the life of me how to install all these sample libraries, I just bought, into Samplitude Pro X5. I spent two hours watching videos and reading articles about navigating crap and image files etc.. and I'm giving up because I think I'm close to exploding the aneurysm in my brain. I installed the Independence_Pro_Standard_3_5_180626_18-32.exe and independence_pro_plus_suite_dlm.exe. I go Independence sampler, hit preferences, then add library., then try to navigate the path to the 12 gb of image files. Where are they? Can anyone please help me?

Hi, yeah I watched that video with the English guy like 4 times. He made it sound so easy. However, I get to where he says "Add Library" after clicking "Preferences" and navigate to your folder of image files but every folder I navigate to says "no images in folder". Where is the 12 gb of files I'm supposed to get from Magix? I also bought 6 other plug-ins/soundpools where I'm having same problem

I think I figured out how to add the styles I bought right. It's this Independence library I'm having trouble with

Are you adding the library folder or the "image files" folder? You need to add the main folder that contains both the "image files" folder and the "layers" folder. After that you need to right click on the instrument layer and click on "rebuild menu".

Gotcha my friend. I understand that's what I'm supposed to be doing, but I don't understand where I get that "Images and layers" folder. Does Magix mail me a disk of those files? I assumed I would get some kind of download link of 12 gb of data. Where is it? I got an email with an .exe ind lib application that was like 350mb and a 45mb.dm file. Where do I get this folder of images and layers? It's not in My Products page or in a email.

@Thomas-Foley You need to run independence_pro_plus_suite_dlm.exe to download and install the library. There you can specify the installation folder of your library. After it is done downloading and installing you add the folder as a library inside Independence.

If you load up an instrument for the first time you should then get a popup asking for your library serial number.

Thank you, I'll try it again and see what happens

I run "independence_pro_plus_suite_dlm.exe" like you say. It asks me if I want to download by disks or online. I click on ONLINE and it says I have library already installed and gives choice of Repair or Remove. I click Repair and it says to restart Independence. I open Independence and it says I have Independence Basic library, which I think I had already and it doesn't look like the Independence Pro Plus Suite of 12 gb of orchestral sounds I bought. I never downloaded 12 gigs of data. Anyway, whatever instrument I choose in Independence Basic Library menu, it says "file not found". This Independence Sampler gives me a headache looking at it. The Vita virtual software synths are so easier to deal with for my simple mind. I bought the software at 1:14pm today and it's now 3:15AM in LA, 14 hours later and I still can't get it to work. I think I may give up music and join the circus or something.

SP. wrote on 3/30/2021, 5:22 AM

@Thomas-Foley It says "file not found" because the installer wasn't run correctly until the end.

If it asks to remove the library first, then do it und reinstall it, not repair. The basic library is included inside the plus library so you will not lose anything.

Vita instruments are also Independence instruments, they just have a much simpler user interface. As you can see, it will work, if it is installed correctly.

Another important information for you. the orchestral instruments are not included in the plus suite. They are only part of the premium suite.

Thank you very much for helping me! I really appreciate you taking your time to help a stranger in need. Very cool of you. I'll try removing it and see what happens. Thanks again!

Thank you very much!. I removed it instead of repaired it like you said, then re-installed it, downloaded about 12 gb of data and navigated to folder with the image files in it and it's finding all the files and working perfectly now. You saved my ass. Magix would have been back and forth emailing for weeks trying to help me. I wish I was rich, and not the dirt-poor musician I am, cause I would send you $10,000 to your Paypal account. Thanks a lot! Very nice of you to help me out.

@Thomas-Foley Good to hear that it's now working. The installation of Independence is a little troublesome but it's an excellent sampler.

It's not only an audio sampler but also a MIDI sampler. You can place MIDI files on the keyboard and play complex patterns this way with only one finger. MIDIs then can be manipulated with little timing inaccuracies and note probabilities to give them a more human feel. With the arranger modifier you can also trigger MIDIs based on notes and chords you play on your keyboard and the MIDIs transpose up or down automatically based on the octave you are playing. This can give you super fast results and I don't know any other VST instrument that can do this.

But it takes some time to get around the user interface. It took me also some weeks to understand most of it. So, if you have questions don't hesitate to ask in this forum.

If you like Independence I would suggest to keep an eye on Producerplanet.com because Magix sold Independence Premium Suite in the past years around Black Friday/Cyber Monday for a very good price. If they are doing the same this year you could upgrade much cheaper to the premium suite. Or you could get Samplitude Pro X Suite sometime in the future because it includes the premium library, too.

This whole virtual synth stuff is all new to me. It's frickin' amazing! I have tons of 90s synth keyboards, outboard gear, old rack synths, old school crap in my garage and I'm blown away that for $129 I can have all these tons of incredible sounds with fx. I used to pay $129 just for an Alesis Midiverb II. I have more instruments and soundpools in this Samplitude to last me the rest of my life. I'm really digging it. It's so easy to make music now especially with all the plug-ins you can buy. Thanks for getting me started!

Good for you and welcome Thomas glad you got it sorted.

Samplitude Pro X doesn't get that much main stream media compared to other "big" names but hang in there it really is a powerful DAW, with all the extra plugins there's not a lot it won't do.

Hi,

I suggest that you sign up for the Samplitude/Sequoia forum where you'll find experts on everything Samplitude. There is even a section about Independence.
