Despite instaling and reinstaling several times, I still can't import MP4 video clips into MovieStudio 2023 trial. It gives me a licensing error every time. 2022 version no problems at all but not the 2023 version.
. . . . I still can't import MP4 video clips into MovieStudio 2023 trial. It gives me a licensing error every time. . . .
Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips causing the issue and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.
If the video files are encoded as HEVC (h.265) then due to licensing, importing is only available when you purchase the full version of the program and have acquired the HEVC codec.
Thanks @johnebaker This is a huge help. Did the above and here's the result:
General Complete name : G:\Apartment\Video Progressive Development of Level 5 Just Poured ORIG.mp4 Format : MPEG-4 Format profile : Base Media Codec ID : isom (isom/iso2/avc1/mp41) File size : 2.88 MiB Duration : 13 s 800 ms Overall bit rate : 1 752 kb/s
This is very low for 720p video, I would expect the bitrate to be in the range 10 000 to 15 000 kbp/s.
Has the video been converted from a higher resolution clip? If so, was there a reason for this and what was the format of the original clip - a MediaInfo analysis would help?
@johnebaker thanks for your comments. This is a download from youtube i think. So it won't be an original Yet it plays and can be inserted into a MovieStudio 2022 session.
As a further test, I'll do an analysis of a movie clip I've taken myself. It's midnight here so I'll check it out and post in the morning. Thanks heaps.
Thanks John. Very helpful. Downloaded your clip and tried to insert into timeline. No go. See pic error message. I think what you said is more likely - that is, trial version problem and licensing doesn't occur until registration/activation. The crazy thing is that it works in 2022 version. Work that out! So appreciate your help.
