rasmus-tychsen wrote on 10/23/2017, 6:42 PM

I bought and downloaded the premium music maker package today, i primary need the use of the software just for voice recordings, since i have a friend who make and send beats as mp3 files to me, it occurs that i can't add any mp3files to the program, have tried in any way i can think of, also just by the click/drop function, nothing works.

Im operating on windows 10 and have looked all over the internet for this problem, only problems you solve like this is latest from 2015.

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

First, please read this post and give us a lot more information, especially about your computer and, in particular, which version of MusicMaker you are running.

I have MM Premium 2017 and I just tried to add an mp3 file to a track, by clicking on the folder icon (top left corner), navigating to the folder where the mp3s are stored, changing the dropdown of file type to show All files, selected a file and MM opened it and I could play it.

I have the same problem trying to load ANY mp3 file, regardless of source (commercial from a variety of sources, self-created, etc.) -- I receive the error that the file format can't be read by Music Maker. I already have an mp3 encoder loaded for the use of other programs. I tried exactly the procedure that emmrecs suggested to no avail. Also -- and perhaps tellingly -- the file browser in the right pane never shows .mp3 files when I navigate to a folder containing them. It shows only other file types (making the use of the folder icon on the left the only way to navigate to one). I am also using MM Premium 2017.

Hi

@rasmus-tychsen and @gman777

Where are your files stored - in the Documents folder on the PC or in the cloud using Microsoft OneDrive?

If you mean the Music Maker program files, they're on the D: drive on the PC itself. Any of the .mp3 files I've tried to load are mostly in the Music folder also on D:. Also have no option to export to .mp3, either -- doesn't even show it in the Export dropdown. I know that a web site tutorial refers to getting uninstalled CODECs online, but I don't see an option for that anywhere, especially if it has to be triggered by a menu selection that I don't have.

@gman777

Hi

A few more questions:

I assume drive C: is a SSD drive and the D: drive a second hard drive in the PC - is this correct?

Can you see the mp3 files in Windows Explorer and play them with Windows Media Player?

Is the OS Windows 10, if so which version number?

What is the full name and version number of Music Maker as found under Help, About . . .

Hi,

Essentially "yes" to all your questions. Windows is Version 10.0.15063 Build 15063. Music Maker 25.1.1.67.

It appears that my question is resolved. I didn't understand that I needed to go to the online store and (via the "More features" drop-down selection) purchase/use credit to add this function. I assume this will work, but will circle back here if it doesn't. Thanks for reading. (fyi, I only understood this via a response to a support request. I suspect a little more up-front info about this would be helpful to new users.)

After fighting this application and Googling for an answer, only to come to another post that was years old, and someone jumped down another person's throat for saying I have this issue too... I'm at this one.

SOLUTION:

AFTER you have it installed, and updated and have fought the Magix account login and activation processes...

In the very upper right corner, you should see the "Store" tab. That's where there is a drop down that I believe is what @gman777 referenced. It starts by saying "More Soundpools" but you change that to "More features"

Then you get bunch of things to buy. Yep. Just like an in-app purchase on your phone/tablet.

One of them says "More Tracks & Formats" -- go through the process of buying this (it may use a credit on your MAGIX account automatically if you bought it in the promo) and that will then allow you to not only see the mp3 files in the File Browser tab/panel, but you can then also drag/drop them from a Windows folder onto the mixer.

Frustrating and convoluted, yes, I agree. It would have been nice if it just prompted you to "buy" the feature the first time you dropped a file.

Bleh.

i pay the software. never used it. never found anywhere a solution.

There is something called manual which is included in almost every software you can by from every company.
It is even explained in the email which you got after you bought the software.
You can even find here a tutorial which was created by me.

It is completly your fault.

Also why do you post in a 6 month old thread instead of creating a new thread?

@www.housestationlive.com

Your post to this thread has been hidden, because of the quite gratuitous use of unacceptable language in a public forum and because it appears you only came here to rant.

@Larry98

I've left your response visible because your comment on the post from housestationlive.com is also relevant to other viewers of the forum.
