Can't get Movie Studio 2022 to export 3D SBS video after I edit it.

AgingTechNerd wrote on 11/12/2022, 10:24 PM

So I've been able to post unedited 4K 3D video from my twin GoPros to Youtube in mp4 left on left halfwidth and it works fine. As soon as I try editing out scenes (using Movie Studio 2022 Suite), or adding titles or royalty free music it does not export SBS half width 3D. It just exports video with a line down the centre and you tube shows it as 2D.

Am I missing something? Any ideas why editing video stops it from exporting 3D SBS video?

I'm running Movie Studio 2022 Suite, Ver 21.0.2.138 (UDP3_ UG Code 5930 KA1

Thanks.

Hi

Did you check the Device options settings are still set to CPU - see your topic here?.

I have no issues with editing affecting the exports.

Hi John,

Thanks for this. I actually forgot about that. That was a few brain-fulls ago. Too many programming projects on the go.

First of all thanks for the reassurances that I'm not the only one doing 3D editing using this software. I see a lot of people sharing 3D stills and not so much 3D home videos. If there is a forum or FB group of folks that you know of that would be great as I still have a few questions.

I've since acquired a Windows 10 desktop PC and had just moved all my 3D editing off my MacBook Pro (BootCamp windows 10) and just getting back to it now with the return of the cold weather.

So before seeing your response I reviewed all my settings and managed to get my first edited 3D SBS working. I think somehow when I started editing the 3D properties and had reverted back to 2D somehow.

I just checked the device settings and all 3 were set to 'Intel(R) HD Graphics 530'. I've just changed them to CPU.

Here was my first attempt yesterday: Interested in your impression of it.

Maybe I need to start a new thread for this... In Anaglyph with Red/Cyan glasses I'm getting some of the right(cyan) image bleeding into the Left (red) eye. Is this just a limitation of Red/Cyan Anaglyph? Or is there a way to tweak the colours or choose another colour pair setting and get matching glasses?

Thanks.

Hi

The 3D effect is very good, the spatial setup looked good when viewed on my laptop from about 15 inches - I had to dig out my Anaglyph glasses to watch it 🤓. with very little bleeding of the colours.

If looking at the video on a bigger screen and further away from it , this may be more apparent, try tweaking the Spatial align left/right and up/down settings

When I make a 3D (stereo) video, which is not so often now, for my TV I use the SBS halfwidth option for export as I have active glasses for the viewing.

Thanks John, I really couldn't find much in Anaglyph video to compare too. The ghosting in this one is not so bad because of the light coloured sand. I took one in a Niagara Falls helicopter fly over and in the first go the ghosting in Anaglyph is too much. I'm going to take another go at it.

My Oculus Quest 2 takes SBS half width and it's great. I've been trying to get my hands on a 3D TV or monitor.. shutter glasses or passive polarised is fine so a few people can watch. I've not had any luck finding anything these days. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi

. . . .  I've been trying to get my hands on a 3D TV or monitor. . . .

I am afraid you are going to be looking for a used TV supporting 3D - manufacture of 3D/Stereo TVs stopped about 5 years ago

The same goes for monitors, they are rare, also the graphics card must be able to drive them.

Projectors are still being made that support 3D and quite a wide choice for screen brightness price etc.
