Can't get audio to play in Magix MEP trial

ihubb67 wrote on 6/19/2014, 4:04 AM

I am importing AVCHD video into the trial of MEP 2014. So far I have been unable to get any sound to play along with the clips which do play audio when viewed outside Magix MEP. There is no wave showing in the track below the video track. Why is this  and how can I get sound ? So far I will not purchase ifit does not play sound which is important to my video work.

Perhaps because we, as fellow-users, may not really know what to suggest.

One thing to check is that the audio sampling frequency of your AVCHD footage (44.1kHz or 48kHz) matches what MEP is set for.  I think it usually defaults to 48 so if your files are 44.1 you will need to change the setting in MEP.

ihubb67,

Is the track below complewtely blank or does is simply show an audio track with no waveform? You may be missing your display because you have not used the right-click on you object 'Audio functions' menu:

The default setting, as shown above, is to hide the audio on the same track as the video. Even if on separate tracks you do need to choose to display the waveform as well.

Check also 'File' >> 'Settings' >> 'Program...' to see if you have 'Import video with sound' selected. Presumably you have not problem with the audio in MEP 2014 when playing clips from other sources and other formats?

Further suggestions might be forthcoming from those who work more with audio if provide some information about the source of your clip. AVCHD is a 'standard' but there are often subtle variations between different camera manufacturers as to how they implement it.

Regards,

Carl

Checked all you suugested and still no audio. I went into settings and there is no way to change from 48k audio to 44 because the option is greyed out.

Hi

What happens if you select one of the video clips then press Ctrl + H then Shift+E?

Post a screen shot of the video clip when you have done this - crop the image in your image editor so as to show the selected clip and part of the timeline - do not post the whole screen shot.

Here is a screenshot. I have un-linked the chain.

Hi

As far as I can tell from the image, assuming you have pressed Ctrl H and Shift E with the clip selected as shown in the image, the audio track is empty ie no audio has been imported/extracted.

What is the version no of MEP 2014 - under Help, About. . . .  the latest is 13.0.4.13.

John

It's version 13.0.2.8  I only have today left to trial it so I will probably never get to the bottom of the problem :-(

If the 30 day trial expired today then it seems you waited over three weeks before raising the problem here?

I tried to examine your screenshot but its quality was too poor to see any detail.

The MAGIX site embedded images are low quality anyway, but yours is clearly even worse. The surrounding white space indicates that it can't be full screen.

If you're still interested in pursuing the audio issue I'd suggest you upload the screenshot to an image hosting site, or a general one like Dropbox. See many of my posts for comparisons.

Hi

The issue with the screen shot is that you did not crop it, as I requested, in an image editting program.

As a result of not doing thisonce uploaded the full screenshot was resized by the Forum server to a lower resolution and the quality became very poor.

Terry's suggestion for large images is a good one.
