Can't get any 3rd party VSTi plugins to load in Samplitude 2016

I'm using Samplitude (2016 version) and am trying to figure out how to install/use 3rd party VSTi plugins, eg some drum or synth sounds etc. I followed the instructions but it doesn't seem to be working.

The VSTi folder on my computer is Program Files (x86)/VSTPlugins, and I downloaded a few VSTis and put them in this folder, then extracted them into this folder, but then when I go to the plugins list on each track in Samplitude, none of the 3rd party VSTis are showing up on the list. What am I doing wrong? This should be very straightforward, surely?

Does the dll file for a VSTi have to go in Program Files (x86)/VSTPlugins, or the extracted folder (for example for a VSTi called VDE, the dll file is in the folder Program Files (x86)/VSTPlugins/VDE Windows 64 bit)? I've noticed that some VSTis contain mse and pdk files as well, so which folder do these need to be put in?

Also, I note that Samplitude 2016 is 64 bit, so I've mainly been trying to install 64 bit VSTis. However some are also 32 bit, not available in 64 bit. Do both 32 and 64 bit VSTis work in Samplitude 2016?

Hi Neil,

I presume that you are looking at the popdown list under the MIDI part of the left hand side track header where you find and select the instrument to be used. Did you look under New Instrument? That is where I find them in Pro X3.

Hi John. It seems to be a drop down menu in the Track Edit part, under Midi > Out/VSti, but also Plugins > VSTi seems to do the same thing. It works ok with Dexed (Yamaha DX7 VSTi), but I still can't get the other VSTis I downloaded to work, despite following the instructions and installing them in the correct VSTi plugin folder on my PC.

Ok, I got it to work, finally. Great!
